Wauwatosa School District
The Wauwatosa School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves student in prekindergarten through twelfth grade from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, United States. History In August 2022 the school district established a new curriculum for sex education. In October 2022 Beck Andrew Salgado of the ''Milwaukee Journal Sentinel'' wrote that the "stability" of the district was damaged by political pressures and by some fights that occurred on campuses. In late October 2022 members of Moms for Liberty and other right wing groups went to a meeting of the board of trustees, and police intervened. Wauwatosa East High School
Wauwatosa East High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school in the city of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. It is part of the Wauwatosa School District. The school was originally known as Wauwatosa Senior High School until the opening of Wauwatosa West High School in September 1960. The first graduating class of Wauwatosa East High School was in June 1962. Today, the school is often colloquially referred to as Tosa East. History The first high school in Wauwatosa opened at the site of the current Wauwatosa East in 1871. Originally known as Wauwatosa High School, the school's name was changed to Wauwatosa East High School in September, 1961 after a rival high school was built on the west side of the city. Wauwatosa (; known informally as Tosa; originally Wau-wau-too-sa or Hart's Mill) is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. Moms for Liberty is an American conservative 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization that claims to advocate for parental rights in schools. Wauwatosa West High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school located in the city of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, United States. West opened in 1960/1961 as a sister-school to Wauwatosa East High School; together they are part of the Wauwatosa School District. History Overcrowding of the city's only high school led the city to build a new high school on the west side of the newly enlarged city. Built in 1960 at 11100 West Center Street and opened in 1961, it was called Wauwatosa West High School. The original high school was renamed Wauwatosa East.
