Wattegama Railway Station
Wattegama Railway Station ( si, වත්තේගම දුම්රිය ස්ථානය) is a railway station on the Matale railway line of Sri Lanka. It is the 62nd railway station on the line from Colombo Fort railway station and is located in the Kandy District in the Central Province. It is from the Colombo Fort Railway Station and from the Kandy Railway Station. The station was opened on 14 October 1880 following the construction of a branch line from Kandy to Matale. It was established to primarily serve the growing number of cacao and tea estates in the area. In the early 1900s it was estimated that a of cocoa beans and of tea moved through this station. Kandy Railway Station
Kandy railway station ( si, මහනුවර දුම්රිය ස්ථානය, ta, கண்டி ரயில் நிலையம்) is a major railway station in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The station is served by Sri Lanka Railways and is the primary railway station in Kandy and one of the most significant in the central hills. Matale ( Sinhala: මාතලේ, ta, மாத்தளை, translit=Māttaḷai) is the administrative capital city of the Matale District. It is the most urbanised and populated centre in the district.
