Water Polo At The 2011 World Aquatics Championships – Men's Tournament
The men's water polo tournament at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships, organised by the FINA, was held in Shanghai, China from 18 to 30 July 2011. The top three teams (excluding the already qualified Serbia) qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Shanghai Oriental Sports Center
The Shanghai Oriental Sports Centre (Simplified Chinese: 上海东方体育中心), also known as the Shanghai Aquatic Sports Center, is a sports venue that started construction on December 30, 2008, and was completed in late 2010. The center has an indoor arena named Indoor Stadium seating 18,000, an indoor swimming pool seating 5,000, and an outdoor swimming pool also seating 5,000. The Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is close to Huangpu River, next to Expo Park in Shanghai's Pudong New Area. The total investment was two billion yuan. The center is situated near the Oriental Sports Center station on the Shanghai Metro. Iván Ernesto Pérez Vargas (born 29 June 1971) is a water polo player from Spain. He was born in Havana, Cuba, but became a Spanish citizen. He was a member of the national team that finished in sixth place at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He also competed at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. He represented Cuba at the 1992 Summer Olympics. In 2003 Pérez, a player from CN Barcelona, ended up in fifth place with the national side at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships in his home town of Barcelona.
