Cree (also known as Cree– Montagnais–Naskapi) is a dialect continuum of Algonquian languages spoken by approximately 117,000 people across Canada, from the Northwest Territories to Alberta to Labrador. Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan
Waskesiu Lake, also referred to as Waskesiu, is a hamlet in Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan, Canada. The hamlet is the only community within the park, located on the southern shore of Waskesiu Lake, is about north of Prince Albert. Most facilities and services one would expect to find in a multi-use park are available, such as souvenir shops, small grocery stores, restaurants, hotels and motels, rental cabins, campgrounds, three marinas, many beaches, picnic areas, tennis courts, lawn bowling greens, a gas station, laundromat, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment and a small movie theatre (which adds showings on rainy and cold days). The facilities and services combine recreational and nature experiences. Notably, the park contains the Waskesiu Golf Course designed by famed golf course architect Stanley Thompson who also designed the course in Banff National Park. Waskesiu Lake
Waskesiu Lake () is a lake located roughly in the centre of Prince Albert National Park. The lake's name means ''red deer'' or ''elk'' in the Cree language. Waskesiu Lake is by far the most developed lake in the park, and features a variety of recreational facilities along all sides of its shoreline, including camping, golfing, boating, and hiking. The resort village of Waskesiu Lake is on its eastern shore. The Prince Albert National Park Nature Centre is located in the village as well as many other amenities such as lodging, police, a gas station, shopping, and restaurants. Access to the lake is from Highways 263 and 264. Description Waskesiu Lake sits north-east of the Waskesiu Hills and is in the Churchill River drainage basin. The south flowing rivers out of the Waskesiu Hills, including Spruce and Spruce Rivers, flow into the North Saskatchewan River and the ones flowing north out of the hills flow into the Waskesiu Lake catchment. Waskesiu River is a river that runs through boreal forest in the north-central region of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It begins at Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert National Park and flows north-east to Montreal Lake. Description The source of Waskesiu River is at the north-eastern corner of Waskesiu Lake, just north of the village of Waskesiu Lake, in Prince Albert National Park. While the river itself is relatively short, it has a significant catchment area that includes the northern slopes of the Waskesiu Hills, Waskesiu Lake, and Kingsmere Lake. From Waskesiu Lake, Waskesiu River heads north-east out of the park and into the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District where it crosses Highway 2 en route to Montreal Lake in the Montreal Lake 106 Indian reserve. In Prince Albert National Park, near the source of the river, is the Waskesiu River Trail.
