State Route 524 (SR 524) is a suburban state highway in the U.S. state of Washington, located entirely within Snohomish County. It begins at in Edmonds and travels east past , (I-5), under , past and to end at in Maltby. The road also has two spur routes, one connecting to SR 104 in Edmonds and another connecting to I-5 in Lynnwood. First appearing on a map in 1895, the highway was designated as part of (SSH 1W) in 1957 during an extension from Edmonds to Lynnwood. SSH 1W was extended further to (present-day SR 527) in 1959 before becoming SR 524 in 1964. A final extension east to SR 522 was completed in 1991. Edmonds is a city in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is located in the southwest corner of the county, facing Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west. The city is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and is located north of Seattle and southwest of Everett. With a population of 39,709 residents in the 2010 U.S. census, Edmonds is the third most populous city in the county. The estimated population in 2019 was 42,605. Edmonds was established in 1876 by logger George Brackett, who bought the land claim of an earlier settler. Lynnwood Convention Center is a suburban convention center located in Lynnwood, Washington, near Seattle. The $31 million facility opened in 2005 and is managed by Oak View Group (OVG). The convention center was first proposed in the 1980s, but was rejected by voters on three occasions; the formation of a public facilities district in 1999 funded its construction. Lynnwood Transit Center
Lynnwood Transit Center, also known as Lynnwood TC or LTC, is a bus station and future light rail station in Lynnwood, Washington. It is the largest transit hub in southwestern Snohomish County and is served by Community Transit and Sound Transit Express. The transit center also includes a park and ride with 1,370 spaces and bicycle facilities. In 2024, Lynnwood Transit Center will become the northern terminus of Sound Transit's Link Light Rail system as part of the Lynnwood Link Extension. The Link extension was approved in 2008 as part of the Sound Transit 2 ballot measure.
