Washington International Trade Association
The Washington International Trade Association (WITA) is an organization that hosts forums for discussing issues of international trade in the United States. The meetings hosted by WITA have been used by members of Congress to discuss their goals on trade. Operating as a non-profit, non-partisan organization, WITA itself does not engage in political discussion or debate. History WITA was founded in 1982 as a way for those involved in international trade to network and communicate with each other. In 2004, the Washingtonian named WITA "One of Washington's Top 20 Networking Groups." By 2006 WITA had grown to include 1400 individual members and over 90 corporate sponsors and group members. As of 2021, WITA members exceed 4,000, with Members across the United States and around the world. WITA (1490 AM, "Inspiration 1490") is a Christian radio station located in Knoxville, Tennessee. It broadcasts a Christian format with some conservative talk shows and news from the USA Radio Network. In the late 1960s into the mid-1970s, WITA was known as WROL, "Real Rock And Roll Radio". It was the only station in Knoxville airing an AOR format, playing album cuts from artists such as the Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin and the Grateful Dead. The station boasted Knoxville's first female DJ to gain popularity with the University Of Tennessee student population, Leslie Shelor (''Leslie Shelor Swann after marriage''; also known as "''Peggy Swann''" to good friends). During this period it was known as "W-149" as a play on its frequency of 1490 kHz. Ronald Kirk (born June 27, 1954) is an American lawyer, politician and member of the Democratic Party who served as the United States Trade Representative from 2009 to 2013 and the 57th Mayor of Dallas from 1995 to 2002. Born in Austin, Texas, Kirk is a graduate of Austin's John H. Reagan High School, Austin College, and the University of Texas School of Law. From 1994 to 1995, Kirk worked as the Secretary of State of Texas, until he was elected as the Mayor of Dallas, where he served from 1995 to 2002 and was the first African-American to hold either of those positions. He ran for the United States Senate in 2002, but was defeated by Republican opponent John Cornyn. The director-general of the World Trade Organization is the officer of the World Trade Organization (WTO) responsible for supervising and directing the organization's administrative operations. Since the World Trade Organization's decisions are made by member states, either through a Ministerial Conference or through the General Council, the director-general has little power over matters of policy – the role is primarily advisory and managerial in nature. The director-general supervises the WTO secretariat of about 700 staff and is appointed by WTO members for a term of four years. Richard Neal
Richard Edmund Neal (born February 14, 1949) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 1989. The district, numbered as the 2nd district from 1989 to 2013, includes Springfield, West Springfield, Pittsfield, Holyoke, Agawam, Chicopee and Westfield, and is much more rural than the rest of the state. A member of the Democratic Party, Neal has been the dean of Massachusetts's delegation to the United States House of Representatives since 2013, and he is also the dean of the New England House delegations.
