Washington Galleries Bus Station
Washington Galleries Bus Station is located in the town of Washington in Tyne and Wear. The bus station was originally constructed in 1970s, to serve the adjacent Galleries Shopping Centre, which opened in 1974. The original bus station was demolished and re-built in the late 2000s, as part of a £2.5 million refurbishment project. The new facility opened in October 2008. Washington Galleries is served by Go North East's local bus services, with frequent routes running in and around Washington, as well as County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. Silksworth
Silksworth is a suburb of the City of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. The area can be distinguished into two parts, old Silksworth, the original village and township which has existed since the early middle ages, and New Silksworth, the industrial age colliery village which expanded north west of the original settlement. Jarrow Metro Station
Jarrow is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the town of Jarrow, South Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 24 March 1984, following the opening of the fifth phase of the network, between Heworth and South Shields. History The station was opened by the North Eastern Railway on 1 March 1872, following the opening of the branch line between Pelaw and South Shields. The branch line, previously operated by steam, was electrified using a third-rail system in March 1938. The Boldons
The Boldons are a group of three small villages in the north east of England – East Boldon, West Boldon and Boldon Colliery – north of Sunderland, east of Newcastle and south of South Shields and Jarrow. In 2001 they had a population of 13,271. Lying within the historic boundaries of County Durham, the villages are first recorded in print in 1170. Their names evolved from the words "Bold" or "Botl", meaning a building, and "dun", meaning a type of hillfort. In 1866, work began sinking a pit that began producing coal in 1869, and was then known as Boldon New Winning. The village that developed nearby in the 1870s became known as Boldon Colliery. South Shields Interchange is the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive ran transport hub which serves the coastal town of South Shields, South Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. Gateshead Interchange is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the town of Gateshead in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 15 November 1981, following the opening of the third phase of the network, between Haymarket and Heworth. Eldon Square Bus Station is one of two bus stations serving Newcastle City Centre. It is owned by Newcastle City Council and is managed by Nexus. The new glass-roofed bus station was built adjacent to the old bus station, on a former access road, and is accessible via the new mall. Concord, Sunderland
Concord is an area of Washington, a town in Tyne and Wear, England. Historically, Concord was part of County Durham, joining the county of Tyne and Wear in 1974, following its creation. Birtley is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, in Tyne and Wear, England. It is situated to the south of Gateshead and is physically linked to Chester-le-Street across the county boundary.
