Warwick Parish
Warwick Parish is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda. It is named after Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick (1587-1658). It is located in the central south of the island chain, occupying part of the main island to the southeast of the Great Sound, the large expanse of water which dominates the geography of western Bermuda, and also a number of islands which lie within that sound. It is joined to Southampton Parish in the southwest, and to Paget Parish in the northeast. As with most of Bermuda's parishes, it covers just over 2.3 square miles (about 6.0 km² or 1500 acres). It had a population of 9,002 in 2016. Natural features in Warwick include Warwick Long Bay, Riddell's Bay, Darrell's Island, Hawkins Island, Long Island, and Marshall's Island. Hinson's Island, once part of Warwick, is now part of Paget Parish. Bermuda Regiment
The Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR), formerly the Bermuda Regiment, is the home defence unit of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda. It is a single territorial infantry battalion that was formed on the amalgamation in 1965 of two originally voluntary units, the mostly black Bermuda Militia Artillery (BMA) and the almost entirely white Bermuda Rifles (titled the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps (BVRC) until 1949), and the only remaining component of the Bermuda Garrison since the 1957 withdrawal of regular units and detachments from Bermuda. Marco Warren
Marco Warren (13 December 1993 – 14 May 2023) was a Bermudian footballer who played as a midfielder. He capped for the Bermuda national team. Career Marco Warren was born in Warwick Parish, Bermuda. He started his career at Flagler College, where he originally studied Graphic Design as well as receiving a sports scholarship. He began to play for the college team in 2012, known as the Flagler Saints, who were then playing in the NCAA Division II. In his first season, he played in all of the 19 available games and scored 1 goal. He also appeared in all the available games for the 2013 season, this time getting 7 goals in 19 games. For his final college season in 2014 he played 10 games and scored 1 goal. In total in three years for Flagler Saints he played in 48 games, scoring 9 goals. Dale Russell (soccer)
Dale Russell (born 19 January 1955) is a U.S. retired soccer forward who played in the North American Soccer League and the Major Indoor Soccer League. He also earned one cap with the U.S. national team. College While born in Bermuda, Russell attended Philadelphia Textile where he played on the men's soccer team from 1973 to 1976. He was a four-time All American, second team as a freshman and first team each of his next three seasons. He is the school's career leader in points (198), goals (71) and is second in career assists with 55. He also led the 1974 NCAA post-season tournament with six goals and one assist for thirteen points. Alex Scott (politician)
William Alexander Scott (born 1940) is a politician in Bermuda who is the House of Assembly of Bermuda, MP for the Warwick, Bermuda, Warwick South East constituency. Between 2003 and 2006 he served as the List of Premiers of Bermuda, Premier of Bermuda and leader of the Progressive Labour Party (Bermuda), Progressive Labour Party (PLP). Francis Landey Patton
Francis Landey Patton (January 22, 1843 – November 25, 1932) was a Bermudan-American educator, Presbyterian minister, academic administrator, and theologian, and served as the twelfth president of Princeton University. Background, 1843–1871 Patton was born in Warwick Parish, Bermuda, to a family of Scottish descent. He attended Warwick Academy. As a child, the family relocated to Canada. Patton received collegiate education at the University of Toronto, followed by a theological education at Knox College, Toronto. He graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1865; was ordained to the Presbyterian ministry in June 1865; was pastor of the 84th Street Presbyterian Church, New York City, and in 1867–1870, of the South Church, Brooklyn. Warwick Academy
Warwick Academy is the oldest school in Bermuda, established in about 1659. It is located in Warwick Parish. It was named after the English colonial administrator Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick, who gave the original land. Its first Schoolmaster was Richard Norwood, the mathematician who had carried out the first and second surveys of Bermuda in 1616 and 1627, respectively. The school Warwick Academy was formerly a government-aided (a privately owned school, with its own board of governors, operating as part of the public school system in exchange for government funding) secondary school but since 1992 it has been a selective independent mixed-sex day school for students aged 4 to 19. PHC Zebras
The Pembroke Hamilton Club Zebras is a Bermuda, Bermudian association football, football club who participate in the Bermudian Premier Division. They play their home games on PHC Field at "Stadium Lane", which was reopened in 2015 after 17 years. It was named Warwick Stadium when it hosted its first match in the Bermuda Football Union. Warwick Pond
Warwick ( ) is a market town, civil parish and the county town of Warwickshire in the Warwick District in England, adjacent to the River Avon. It is south of Coventry, and south-east of Birmingham. It is adjoined with Leamington Spa and Whitnash. It has ancient origins and an array of historic buildings, notably from the Medieval, Stuart and Georgian eras. It was a major fortified settlement from the early Middle Ages, the most notable relic of this period being Warwick Castle, a major tourist attraction. Much was destroyed in the Great Fire of Warwick in 1694 and then rebuilt with fine 18th century buildings, such as the Collegiate Church of St Mary and the Shire Hall. The Church of Scotland ( sco, The Kirk o Scotland; gd, Eaglais na h-Alba) is the national church in Scotland.
