Warwick Farm Railway Station
Warwick Farm railway station is located on the Main South line, serving the Sydney suburb of Warwick Farm. It is served by Sydney Trains T2 Inner West & Leppington, T3 Bankstown and T5 Cumberland line services. History The original Warwick Farm station opened on 18 March 1889 as a private platform for William Forrester near the former level crossing on the Hume Highway. It was relocated to its present location in 1943 when nearby Warwick Farm Racecourse was used as a military camp. Previously, a 1.6-kilometre branch line to the racecourse branched off from the Main South line north of the station, and carried special racecourse trains on race days. The branch opened in June 1889, closed in August 1990 and was removed in December 1991. The Southern Sydney Freight Line opened immediately to the east of the station in January 2013. Warwick Farm
Warwick Farm is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Warwick Farm is located 30 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is part of the South-western Sydney region. History This area was occupied by Irish political prisoners transported after the Irish Rebellion of 1798. Land grants of were made to transportees in 1809 and for some time it was known as Irish Town. John Hawley Stroud, the superintendent of Liverpool Orphans School, received a grant in 1804 on the present site of Warwick Farm Racecourse and named his property after Warwick in England. Granville Railway Station
Granville railway station is a train station located on the Main Suburban line, serving the suburb of Granville, New South Wales, Australia. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western Line and T2 Inner West & Leppington Line services. It is the junction for the Main Western line and the Main South line. History Granville station opened on 2 July 1860 as Parramatta Junction, and is close to the original terminus of the first railway line in New South Wales which was completed in 1855. On 1 September 1880 it was relocated to its present location and renamed Granville. Granville Junction lies immediately to the west of the station and is the junction point of the Main Western and the original Main South lines, now referred to as the Old Main South after the opening of the Lidcombe to Cabramatta bypass.
