Warrnambool Football Club
The Warrnambool Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Blues'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the city of the same name. Warrnambool teams compete in the Hampden Football Netball League, where the football squad has played since 1933. History The origins of the clubs can be traced back to 1861, when a "football" match was played in Warrnambool. The club was formed shortly after, being one of the oldest football clubs in Australia. In 1913 the club won its first premiership, playing in the Western District Football Association. Warrnambool entered into recess in 1915 due to World War I, returning to action in 1920 under the named "Warrnambool City". In 1924, the club merged with South Warrnambool to form "Warrnambool FC", winning flags in 1924 and 1927. Hampden Football Netball League
The Hampden Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league based in South-Western Victoria, with clubs located in towns along or near the Princes Highway from Camperdown to Portland. The league is a major country league. It comprises an amalgamation of the Hampden Football League with the women's netball league with the same teams and playing draw. History The ''Hampden Football League'' was formed in 1930, when the four founding clubs broke away from the Western District FL. Terang and Camperdown did not want to continue to travel to Hamilton because their players were farmers who could not spend all day away from the farm to play football, as they had cows to milk. Mortlake agreed with Camperdown and Terang and resigned from the WDFL. Cobden was left with a predicament, and requested admittance to the new league. Harry Herbert (2 August 1934 – 19 January 2011) was an Australian rules footballer for the Geelong Football Club and a Victorian policeman. Nick Muller
Nichol Haworth "Nick" Muller (10 September 1914 – 19 May 1947) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career Muller, from North Geelong, made three VFL appearances for Geelong early in the 1936 VFL season. He didn't play a senior game in 1937, but was a member of the Geelong seconds premiership team. His brother, Angie Muller, played in Geelong's senior premiership that year. In 1939 he joined Warrnambool in the Hampden Football League and ended the year with another premiership. He returned to Geelong in 1940 and played seven games, including their semi-final loss to Essendon, which would be his final appearance at VFL level. Death Muller died on 19 May 1947, aged 32.'' Dick Harris (Australian Rules Footballer)
Richard Dennis Harris (21 October 1911 – 30 September 1993) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1934 and 1944 for the Richmond Football Club. Harris played mainly as a rover and was highly successful in front of goals. He also represented Victoria at interstate football, playing a total of nine games for his state including the 1937 Perth Carnival. Early life Born and raised in Warrnambool, he started his playing career with Victoria Ward in the Warrnambool Junior FA in 1927. His father had told him he would get a shilling for every goal he kicked. His first game he kicked seven goals. In 1931 he joined the main town side Warrnambool in the Western District Football League. He kicked 96 goals in his first season and was the league's leading goalkicker.
