Warrior Dash
Warrior Dash was a 5 km mud run put on by Red Frog Events, an event company based in Chicago, Illinois. As of July 31, 2019, Red Frog events is no longer a company and has cancelled all Warrior Dash races and ceased operations. History 2009 The inaugural Warrior Dash took place on July 18, 2009, in Joliet, Illinois, at CPX Sports with 2,000 participants. 2011 The 2011 Warrior Dash season hosted 33 races throughout the U.S. and internationally in Canada and Australia. Total participants for the 2011 season neared 700,000. 2012 Red Frog Events hosted 49 Warriors Dash events in their 2012 season, their largest season yet. 2013 2019 As of July 31, 2019, Red Frog Events announced that it will cease operations and all scheduled races were cancelled. Red Frog Events, LLC was a privately owned (one-member LLC with Joe Reynolds as the sole member) event production company founded in 2007 and based in Chicago, Illinois. The company's events and services included Warrior Dash, Firefly Music Festival, ShamrockFest, American Beer Classic, EventSprout, and Red Frog Food and Beverage. Joe Reynolds and Ryan Kunkel were the co-CEOs. History Mirroring the television show ''The Amazing Race'', Joe Reynolds organized and launched Great Urban Race, LLC, and hosted the first race on September 15, 2007 in Chicago. In December 2008, Reynolds brought on four event coordinator interns ("Tadpoles") and moved the business into an office in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood to help keep up with the planning and organizing of Great Urban Race. Tough Mudder is an endurance event series in which participants attempt obstacle courses. It was co-founded by Will Dean and Guy Livingstone. The obstacles often play on common human fears, such as fire, water, electricity and heights. The first Tough Mudder challenge was held in the United States in 2010. As of 2016, more than three million people worldwide have participated in Tough Mudder events. Run For Your Lives (RFYL) is a 3-5K obstacle course adventure run series created by Maryland-based Reed Street Productions (RSP). Like other obstacle races, runners navigate through various terrain and physically challenging obstacles. Rugged Maniac is an annual obstacle course race, otherwise known as a mud run, which is hosted in multiple cities across the United States and Canada. Participants run a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course with obstacles ranging from muddy water slides, crawling through tunnels, jumping over logs set on fire, and scaling large, curved walls. Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races of varying distance and difficulty ranging from 3 miles to marathon distances. These races are held in the United States and have been franchised to 30 countries, including Canada, South Korea, Australia, the Philippines and several European countries.
