Warrier
Variyar (also written as Variar, Varyar, Warriar or Warrier) is a Hindu Ambalavasi caste in Kerala, India. Etymology The term Variyar has its origin in the Malayalam word 'Variyam' ( ml, വാരിയം /വാര്യം), which refers to a committee or a board. Variyam refers to an office of supervision. Thus variyar is a supervising officer or a member of a supervisory board or committee. The word is commonly used in the plural form as Variar (Varian + -ar) to denote respect. The feminine equivalent of Variar is ''Varassyar''. It is a combination of Variyassi/Variaththi and the plural suffix ''-ar''. Manju Warrier
Manju Warrier (; born 10 September 1978) is an Indian actress, producer, classical dancer and playback singer who primarily appears in Malayalam language films. She is the recipient of several awards including one National Film Award, one Kerala State Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards South. She is regarded as one of the most prolific actresses in Malayalam cinema. She made her acting debut in ''Sakshyam'' (1995) at the age of 17. Gopi Warrier is a practitioner of Indian Ayurvedic medicine, a playwright, and a poet. Life and career Gopi Warrier is the son of Govind Parameswara Warrier (G.P. Warrier), chairman of Indian National Railways and Principal Secretary to the Government of India. His grandfather was M.R. Krishna Warrier, a poet in Kerala. Unnayi Variyar
Unnayi Warrier was a poet, writer, scholar, and dramatist who lived in Kerala, India during the 17th/18th century. He is best known for his chef-d'oeuvre ''Nalacharitham'' aattakatha and is known to have made significant contributions to the art of Kathakali, the classical dance-drama form of Kerala. Shobha Warrier
Shobha Warrier is an Indian journalist and author based in Chennai. She began her career as a creative writer, with publishing a number of short stories in Malayalam: "Ramakundam", "Meghana", and "Jalavidya". In 1996, she was awarded with the Lalithambika Sahitya Awards (named after the author and social reformer Lalithambika Antharjanam) for the lattermost, which was later translated to Kannada and Telugu. Ramapurathu Warrier (1703–1753) is considered to be the pioneer of the "Vanchippattu" or Boat song form of poetry in Malayalam language. ''Vanchippattu'' is a poetic form of folk origin composed entirely in the Dravidian metre ''nathonnata''. He was born in the year 1703 at Kottayam District, Kerala.
