Warren Lehrer
Warren Lehrer is an American author and artist/designer known mostly for his highly visual books and multimedia projects. Lehrer came to prominence in the 1980s and 90s for his attempts at capturing the shape of thought and speech on the printed page in his books and performance scores characterized by polyvalent narratives and expressionistic typography. Since then he’s authored and co-authored works of non-fiction, fiction, and poetry that also marry writing, typography and image. His illuminated novel, ''A Life in Books: The Rise and Fall of Bleu Mobley'' (Goff Books, 2013) contains 101 books within it, including cover designs and excerpts that read like short stories. Harvey Goldman
Harvey Goldman (born September 28, 1951) is an American artist and educator. Education He received his BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and his MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Career Goldman is best known for his work in the fields of ceramics, digital art, experimental film and visual music. Goldman's work is represented among many private and public art collections including the IotaCenter for Experimental Animation, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Everson Museum of Art, DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Currier Museum of Art, and the Crocker Art Museum. Visual Studies Workshop (VSW) is a non-profit group dedicated to art education based in Rochester, New York, in the Neighborhood of the Arts. VSW supports makers and interpreters of images through education, publications, exhibitions, and collections. VSW runs a bookstore, exhibition gallery, and research center. VSW was founded in 1969 by photographer, writer, curator and educator, Nathan Lyons. VSW is artist-run and an educational and support center for photography and other media art. Up until 2022, VSW ran a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program through State University of New York at Brockport, but this program has now been discontinued. The Knitting Factory
The Knitting Factory is a nightclub in New York City that features eclectic music and entertainment. After opening in 1987, various other locations were opened in the United States. The Knitting Factory gave its audience poetry readings, performance art, standup comedy, and musicians who transcended the usual boundaries of rock and jazz, often experimental music. La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club (La MaMa E.T.C.) is an Off-Off-Broadway theatre founded in 1961 by Ellen Stewart, African-American theatre director, producer, and fashion designer. Located in Manhattan's East Village, the theatre began in the basement boutique where Stewart sold her fashion designs. Tate is an institution that houses, in a network of four art galleries, the United Kingdom's national collection of British art, and international modern and contemporary art.
