Warren Consolidated High School
Buckeye Local School District is a public school district based in Dillonvale, Ohio, United States. The school district includes all of Mount Pleasant, Smithfield, Warren, and Wells townships in southern Jefferson County as well as very small portions of Cross Creek, Steubenville, and Wayne townships in central Jefferson County. A portion of Short Creek Township in southeastern Harrison County and Pease Township in northeastern Belmont County also lie within the district. Nine incorporated villages are served by Buckeye Local Schools: Adena, Dillonvale, Harrisville, Mount Pleasant, New Alexandria, Rayland, Smithfield, Tiltonsville, and Yorkville. Dillonvale, Jefferson County, Ohio
Dillonvale is a village in southern Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. The population was 589 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. History Dillonvale was originally known as Annadelphia, and under the latter name was laid out in 1816. Nothing much became of the town until the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway was built through that territory in 1889, at which time a new plat was made and the new names of Dillon, and later Dillonvale, were adopted. Adena, Ohio
Adena ( ) is a village in southwestern Jefferson and southeastern Harrison counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 664 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. History When the village was being established, Ohio General Assembly member John McLaughlin (1803-1816) suggested to name it after Adena Mansion, then Governor Thomas Worthington's home and estate in Chillicothe, Ohio. A post office called Adena was established in 1855 with Peter Hixon as the first Postmaster, although there was no mail route yet at the time. After a mail route was established, John Bendell was appointed as the first acting Postmaster. The post office is still in operation. Tiltonsville, Ohio
Tiltonsville is a village in southern Jefferson County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 1,259 at the 2020 census. It is a part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. History Tiltonsville was laid out in 1806 by John Tilton, and named for him. He purchased this land and full Section No. 22 from the United States at a land auction in Pittsburgh on November 25, 1796. Tilton paid $3,623.76 for 900 acres of land – half at the time of purchase and the balance on November 18, 1797; his deed by patents dated November 20, 1797, and it is signed by President John Adams. A post office called Tiltonville was established in 1852, and the name was changed to Tiltonsville in 1875. History Rayland was originally called Portland Station. A post office called Portland Station was established in 1871 giving the village its name. The village name was changed to Rayland in 1928. Rayland incorporated as a village in 1938. Rayland was once of the largest port towns on the river during its heyday as Portland Station. The Stringer Stone House, also known as the John B. Bayless House, was a historic stone mansion located at 224 Warren Avenue in Rayland, Ohio. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 10, 1974.
