Allan Warrack
Allan Alexander Warrack (born May 24, 1937) is a former politician from Alberta, Canada. He was in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta as a member of the governing Progressive Conservative caucus from 1971 to 1979. He held several portfolios in the government of Premier Peter Lougheed. He currently teaches at the University of Alberta. Political career Warrack first ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1971 general election, as a Progressive Conservative candidate in the electoral district of Three Hills. Grace Harriet Warrack
Grace Harriet Warrack (29 March 1855 – 3 January 1932) was an editor and translator in Edinburgh. She commissioned the stained glass windows in High Kirk of the Free Church of Scotland, the Mound, Edinburgh. Biography Grace Harriet Warrack was born in Edinburgh on 29 March 1855, the third daughter of John Warrack of Aberdeen and Grace Stratton of Dunkeld. In 1901 Warrack edited an edition of ''Revelations of Divine Love'', by the medieval mystic Julian of Norwich, from the Sloane 2499 manuscript held in the British Library. The edition was translated into modernised English and introduced early 20th century readers to Julian's writings. The title page was illustrated by the Irish-born artist Phoebe Anna Traquair. Warrack went on to edit and translate collections of Italian folk music and French poetry. Guy Douglas Hamilton Warrack (6 February 1900 – 12 February 1986) was a Scottish composer, music educator and conductor. He was the son of John Warrack of the Leith steamship company, John Warrack & Co., founded by Guy's grandfather, also called John. Life and career Warrack was born in Edinburgh. Harriet Warrack
Harriet Warrack (c.1825 – 23 April 1910) was a British school founder and Headmistress of Albyn School. The school was the largest academic school for girls in Aberdeen and she inspired her students to include a university degree in their ambitions. Life Warrack was born in or before 1825 as she was baptised that year in Aberdeen. Her parents were Harriet (née Morren) and James Warrack. Her father was a well known business person, grocer and tea merchant. The details of her good education are unknown but three of her four brothers went to Aberdeen Grammar School. Warrack started in education in 1867 when she organised lessons for girls in Latin, English, languages, piano and singing in Aberdeen. This enterprise would become the school that is now (2021) called Albyn School. The school moved within two years as it fulfilled a need for girls' education recognised by the Aberdeen Ladies' Educational Association. This was formed in 1877.
