Waropen People
The Waropen or also called Wonti is an ethnic group that inhabits coastal areas in northern Papua, especially in Waropen Regency and several surrounding areas especially Upper Waropen in Mamberamo Raya Regency. People of the Waropen communicate using Waropen language as their native language, and Indonesian, and Papuan Malay as ''lingua franca'' in their area. History Invention by Dutch colonial Jacob Weyland, a Dutch researcher first mentioned the word "''Aropen''", first mentioned by Jacob Weyland in 1705. At that time Weyland sailed to Aropen on the orders of Dutch government with the sailing ships Geelvink, Kraanvogel, and Nova Guinea. Then Weyland got off the sailing ship and reached a settlement called "''Erropang''" (Aropen) on 30 May 1705. At that time the people there were afraid and worried about white peoples. Dutch Colonial
Dutch Colonial is a style of domestic architecture, primarily characterized by gambrel roofs having curved eaves along the length of the house. Modern versions built in the early 20th century are more accurately referred to as "Dutch Colonial Revival", a subtype of the Colonial Revival style. Nabire Regency
Nabire Regency is one of the regencies (''kabupaten'') in the Indonesian province of Central Papua. It covers an area of 12,010.65 km2, and had a population of 129,893 at the 2010 Census and 169,136 at the 2020 Census, comprising 87,688 males and 81,448 females. Queen Regnant
A queen regnant (plural: queens regnant) is a female monarch, equivalent in rank and title to a king, who reigns ''suo jure'' (in her own right) over a realm known as a "kingdom"; as opposed to a queen consort, who is the wife of a reigning king; or a queen regent, who is the guardian of a child monarch and rules '' pro tempore'' in the child's stead, be it in sharing power or in ruling alone. Cenderawasih Bay
Cenderawasih Bay ( id, Teluk Cenderawasih, "Bird of Paradise Bay"), also known as Sarera Bay ( id, Teluk Sarera) and formerly Geelvink Bay ( nl, Geelvinkbaai), is a large bay in northern Province of Papua, Central Papua and West Papua, New Guinea, Indonesia. Geography ''Cenderawasih Bay'' is a large bay to the northwest of the Indonesian province of Papua, north of the province of Central Papua, and east of the province of West Papua, between the Bird's Head Peninsula and the mouth of the Mamberamo River. The bay is more than 300 kilometers wide. The coastline from Manokwari, in the northwest of the bay, to Cape d'Urville at the mouth of the Mamberamo is more than 700 kilometers long. Teluk Wondama Regency
Teluk Wondama Regency or Wondama Bay Regency ( id, Kabupaten Teluk Wondama) is a Regencies of Indonesia, regency of West Papua (province), West Papua province of Indonesia. It covers a land area of 14,953.80 km2, and had a population of 26,321 at the 2010 Census and 41,644 at the 2020 Census. The administrative centre lies in the village of Rasiei. Yapen Languages (Papuan)
The Yawa languages, also known as Yapen languages, are a small family of two closely related Papuan languages, Yawa (or Yava) and Saweru, which are often considered to be divergent dialects of a single language (and thus a language isolate). They are spoken on central Yapen Island and nearby islets, in Cenderawasih Bay, Indonesian Papua, which they share with the Austronesian Yapen languages. Yawa proper had 6000 speakers in 1987. Saweru has been variously reported to be partially intelligible with other dialects of Yawa and to be considered a dialect of Yawa by its speakers, and to be too divergent for intelligibility and to be perceived as a separate language. Papua (province)
Papua is a province of Indonesia, comprising the northern coast of Western New Guinea together with island groups in Cenderawasih Bay to the west. It roughly follows the borders of Papuan customary region of Tabi Saireri. It is bordered by the sovereign state of Papua New Guinea to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the north, Cenderawasih Bay to the west, and the provinces of Central Papua and Highland Papua to the south. Yapen Waropen Regency
Yapen Islands Regency is a regency (''kabupaten'') in Papua Province of eastern Indonesia. It covers an area of , and had a population of 82,951 at the 2010 Census and 112,676 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2021 was 114,210. It comprises an archipelago which lies in Cenderawasih Bay off the north coast of Western New Guinea. Geography The regency includes the islands and island groups of the Yapen Islands archipelago, including the main Yapen island. Its capital is Serui (part of Yapen Selatan district). The area is seismically active. A magnitude 7.5 earthquake in 1979 caused serious destruction and a tsunami, killing 115 people.
