Warne–Muralitharan Trophy
The Warne–Muralidaran Trophy is awarded to the winner of the Australia–Sri Lanka Test cricket series from 2007–08 season onwards. The trophy is named after the two leading wicket takers in Test cricket, Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (who prefers to romanise his name as "Muralidaran") and Australia's Shane Warne. The trophy celebrates the 25th anniversary of Australia–Sri Lanka Test cricket. The trophy features casts of the two bowlers' right hands and match-used cricket balls bowled by them during their careers. Sri Lanka Cricket, the governing body of cricket in Sri Lanka had written to its Australian counterpart, Cricket Australia, that the winner of the series should be awarded a trophy named after the two bowlers. Cricket Australia had responded positively to the Sri Lankans' proposal. Grip (cricket Bowling)
One of the key factors in cricket bowling is the grip. Variation in grip has a major influence on the outcome of a delivery. Below is the grip for an inswing delivery. To produce the grip for an outswinging delivery, you simply have place your fingers on the other side of the seam. For a right hander you would slightly angle the seam so that it is faced towards first slip. For a pace bowler there are many variations of grip that can be adopted to produce different results. A cross-seam delivery for example is one that is used commonly in all formats of the game. when bowled a cross-seam delivery can either land on the smooth leather side of the ball and skid on possibly keeping low or zipping off the pitch. It could also land in the seam making the ball bounce up sharply and unexpectedly surprising the batsman. Australian Cricket Team In Sri Lanka In 1992
The Australian cricket team toured Sri Lanka from 10 August to 13 September 1992 to play three Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs). This was a historical test series for Sri Lanka as this was the first home series for Sri Lanka after 1987. One of the highlights of the series was the emergence of Shane Warne. Another highlight was wicket keeping batsman Romesh Kaluwitharane scoring his maiden test ton on debut at SSC. The first test at SSC turned out to be a famous test match as Sri Lanka collapsed for 164 in pursuit of 180. Especially where Sri Lanka was comfortably led by 291 runs in the first innings. Australian captain Allan Border said after this match that the result achieved by his team must be the ‘greatest heist since the Great Train Robbery’. A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. Chappell–Hadlee Trophy
The Chappell–Hadlee Trophy in cricket is a One Day International cricket series between Australia and New Zealand. It is named after legendary cricketing families from the two countries: the Chappell brothers (Ian, Gregory, and Trevor) of Australia, and Walter Hadlee and his three sons (Barry, Dayle and Sir Richard) of New Zealand. The trophy is currently held by Australia, after they defeated New Zealand 3–0 in the 2022–23 series at home. Australia have recorded seven series wins to New Zealand's four.
