John Wardley
John Richard Wardley (born 6 June 1950) is a British developer for theme parks in the UK and Europe: an innovator of special effects, dark rides and roller coasters in the themed attraction industry. Career Wardley started his career as a stage manager at Windsor's Theatre Royal, then moved on to the film industry creating special effects, including several of the James Bond movies. He was later hired by the Tussauds Group due to his experience in designing animated figures and rides for amusement parks. His first project with Tussauds was the development of animatronics for the 'Royalty and Empire' exhibition at Windsor, Berkshire. After this he was employed by the Tussauds Group to transform the declining Chessington Zoo in London to become the Chessington World of Adventures theme park. Stanley Gordon Wardley (1901–1965) was City Engineer for Bradford during the major redevelopment of Bradford city centre in the 1950s and 1960s, Biography Wardley was born on 13 January 1901 in Hendon. He was appointed City Engineer and Surveyor for Bradford in January 1946. Wardley House, the building that houses the National Media Museum among other things, was named after him. Redevelopment Wardley's vision was for a new city 'with provision for a continuous self-regulating flow of traffic', and the buildings that were erected were modernist. The local sandstone was rejected as a building material. Many much-loved buildings were demolished to make way for the 'city of the future', and there was eventually considerable opposition. J. B. Priestley and David Hockney were among those who protested in vain against the demolition of the Swan Arcade in 1962. Stuart James Wardley (born 10 September 1975, in Cambridge) is an English former professional football midfielder. Biography Wardley played for non-league Saffron Walden Town, Bishops Stortford and Saffron Walden again, while working as removals, before joining Queens Park Rangers in July 1999 for a fee of £15,000. His debut came on 7 August 1999 when he was a late substitute, for Jermaine Darlington in Rangers' 3–1 win at home to Huddersfield Town. Wardley, Rutland
Wardley is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. The population at the 2001 census was 32. At the 2011 census the population remained less than 100 and is included in the civil parish of Ridlington. It is located about two miles (3 km) west of Uppingham, close to the A47. The village's name probably means 'wood/clearing with a weir' or 'wood/clearing of the watchmen'. The manor is not mentioned in Domesday Book, but was probably among the unnamed berewicks attached to Ridlington. By the early 12th century it was in the hands of Richard Basset, who granted it to Launde Priory in Leicestershire with whom it remained until the Dissolution. St Botolph's parish church is Grade II* listed. In 2016 the church passed into the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Wardley is a suburban area of the City of Salford, in Greater Manchester, England. It borders Linnyshaw, Walkden and Swinton. Transport The A580 "East Lancashire Road" passes through the area, and also links to the M61 motorway, of which Wardley is the start of. The M60 motorway passes through the area, with links at Junction 14 (from A580 west, no access to A580 east or M60 clockwise) and the M60 and A666(M) meet at Worsley Braided Interchange (at M60 J15 and A666(M) J1).
