War Story (1989 Film)
''War Story'' is a 1989 animated short film created by Aardman Animations. It was directed by Peter Lord. Production The film was commissioned by Channel 4 as part of a 5-part series of Aardman animations called "Lip Synch". The five films in the series were Creature Comforts (1989), Going Equipped (1990), Ident (1990), Next (1990) and War Story (1989). They all used vox pop interviews as their source material. This one is with Bill Perry, a genuine British World War II vet. Premise The short animated piece uses a real interview as its soundtrack. Peter Lord
Peter Lord CBE (born 1953) is an English animator, director, producer and co-founder of the Academy Award-winning Aardman Animations studio, an animation firm best known for its clay-animated films and shorts, particularly those featuring plasticine duo Wallace and Gromit. He also directed ''Chicken Run'' along with Nick Park, and ''The Pirates! Band of Misfits'' which was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 85th Academy Awards. Lord is the producer/executive producer of every Aardman work, including ''Chicken Run'', ''Arthur Christmas'' and ''Flushed Away.'' Life and career Lord was born in Bristol, England. In co-operation with David Sproxton, a friend of his youth at school together in Woking in the 1960s, he realised his dream of "making and taking an animated movie". ''Lip Synch'' is a series of five short films which used vox pops as inspiration for their subject matter. They were commissioned by Channel 4 in 1989. Nick Park's contribution to the series was the film Creature Comforts, which later won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short of 1990.
