War Memorial Cross
The War Commemorative Cross ( nl, Oorlogsherinneringskruis) is a military award of the Netherlands. The medal was established to commemorate service to the Kingdom of the Netherlands during World War II. The medal was established on 16 March 1944 by royal decree of Queen Wilhelmina. Appearance The medal is an irregular bronze cross with concave ends on the arms. The obverse bears a central portrait of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands encircled by a fastened garter. On the garter are the words ''VOOR KRIJCSVERRICHTINGEN'' (''FOR MILITARY OPERATIONS''). Lombok Cross
The Lombok Cross ( nl, Lombokkruis) is a military award of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The medal was established to commemorate service in the Dutch intervention in Lombok and Karangasem which took place between June and December 1894. The medal was established on 13 April 1895 by Queen Regent Emma of the Netherlands, acting for the underage Queen Wilhelmina. Appearance The medal is a bronze Cross pattée with concave ends on the arms and ball finials on the points. The obverse of the cross bears the effigy of the young queen facing right in the center of the cross. Each arm bears an inscription；on the top is ''LOMBOK'', ''MATARAM'' on the left； ''TJAKRA-NEGARA'' on the right, and ''1894'' on the bottom arm. Resistance Memorial Cross
The Resistance Memorial Cross or Resistance Commemorative Cross ( nl, Verzetsherdenkingskruis) is a medal awarded in the Netherlands to members of the Dutch resistance during the Second World War. The medal was instituted by Royal Decree (No. 104) on 29 December 1980, after the 35th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. It is worn after the War Memorial Cross and before the Medal of Order and Peace. The cross is only awarded at the request of a person eligible to receive it. Approximately 15,000 have been awarded, recorded in the ''Gedenkenboek verzetsherdenkingskruis''. In the Dutch honours system, most orders are the responsibility of ministers of the Netherlands Government. The house orders, however, are awarded at the discretion of the Dutch monarch alone. Over the centuries, hundreds of medals, decorations for merit or valour and orders of knighthood have been instituted by the successive governments of the Netherlands. The oldest were founded by the counts of Holland. Their successors, the House of Burgundy, founded the famous Order of the Golden Fleece. This order still exists in Spain and in the Austrian imperial House. The Republic of the Seven United Netherlands did not possess an order of knighthood. Instead so called "Beloningspenningen", golden medals on golden chains, were given as gifts to ambassadors and successful admirals.
