WQJM (1230 AM) is a radio station licensed to Pineville, Kentucky, and serving the greater Bell County community. WQJM broadcasts with a full-time signal of 1,000 watts and on translator 98.1 W251CV. History WQJM signed on on March 15, 1957 as WMLF, with the mission of serving the Pineville community with local news and information. The station changed its call sign to WANO in 1966. On October 16, 2023, WANO changed its call sign to WQJM to launch a brand new format and branding, “JAMZ 98”. The format is a mixture of today’s hot hits, R&B, and throwbacks from the '70s, '80s and '90s. Ownership South Bevins was the original licensee of WQJM, and owned the station until approximately 1995, when the station was purchased by Warren Pursifull's Cumberland Media Group. Pineville () is a home rule-class city in Bell County, Kentucky, United States. It is the seat of its county. The population was 1,732 as of the 2010 census. It is located on a small strip of land between the Cumberland River and Pine Mountain. History Pineville is one of the oldest settlements in Kentucky, located at the crossing of the Cumberland River by the Wilderness Road. It was established as Cumberland Ford in 1781 and formed part of Governor Isaac Shelby's land tracts. When Bell County was formed in 1867, Cumberland Ford was formally laid off; local landowner J.J. WFXY
WFXY (1490 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic rock format to the Middlesboro, Kentucky, United States, area. The station is currently owned by Penelope, Inc. and features programming from ABC News Radio. History WFXY signed on in 1969, with the call letters WAFI at 1560 kHz. Programming included a full-service format with pop and country music. In the late 1970s, the station moved to a full-time Top 40 format and changed to the current frequency to add nighttime service. Currently, WFXY broadcasts from a tower site on Bloomsbury Avenue in Middlesboro, 24 hours per day. The 1490 kHz frequency was originally occupied by station WMIK in Middlesboro from its sign-on date in 1948. Bell County is a county located in the southeast part of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,097. Its county seat is Pineville.
