Burhan Wani
Burhan Wani (19 September 1994 – 8 July 2016) was a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, an Islamist militant organization and insurgent group of the Kashmir conflict. He had become a popular figure amongst the local Kashmiri populace, having done so primarily through a strong social media presence, and was responsible for moulding the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir into a youth-oriented movement. Wani was a militant leader and had reportedly recruited numerous foot-soldiers through his personal efforts. As a popular militant, Wani was actively sought by Indian security forces, who had imposed a bounty for his capture. He was located in a remote village in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir and subsequently killed in a firefight with Indian forces on 8 July 2016. Wani (scholar)
Wani ( ja, 王仁, 和邇吉師, Wani, Wani Kishi) is a semi-legendary scholar who is said to have been sent to Japan by Baekje of southwestern Korea during the reign of Emperor Ōjin. He used to be associated with the introduction of the Chinese writing system to Japan. Original sources and analysis Wani is mentioned only in Japanese history books; he is not recorded in Chinese or Korean sources. The main sources of Wani's biography are the '' Nihon Shoki'' (720) and the ''Kojiki'' (712). These stories have long been questioned by scholars. Ten volumes are too much for the ''Analects'', and more importantly, his alleged arrival predates the composition of the ''Thousand Character Classic'' (the early 6th century). Wani Ardy (born Nur Syazwani Abd Rahim; 25 October 1984) is a Malaysian creative writer, poet, and singer-songwriter. She identifies her music as trip hop, lyrical poetry, and acoustic music. Background Wani was born as Nur Syazwani binti Abdul Rahim in Kuala Lumpur and raised in Subang Jaya. She did not grow up in an artistic or musical environment. Wani (surname)
Wani/Vani (or Wanie, Wyne, Wain) is a surname of a caste found throughout India and Pakistan, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab (Pakistan) and Maharashtra. Both Wain (pronounced like wine with a nasal 'n') and Wani/Vani are acceptable pronunciations. Historians agree that the Wani/Wain belong to the merchant caste of Baniya, and were originally Kashmiri Hindus. Even among those Wani/Wain who converted from Hinduism to Islam, the profession of these people remained primarily in trade and commerce. Ashfaq Majeed Wani
Ashfaq Majeed Wani (5 September 1966 – 30 March 1990) was the first Commander in Chief of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, a militant Kashmiri-separatist group in Jammu and Kashmir, India. He was killed by Indian Paramilitary Forces in 1990 at the age of 24. He was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Rubiya Sayed, daughter of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, the then Home Minister of India. is a passenger railway station located in the city of Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West). Jagannath Wani
Jagannath Wani (10 September 1934–5 May 2017) was an Indo-Canadian statistician and philanthropist. A Professor Emeritus of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Calgary, his philanthropic work in Canada has focused on mental illness, fund raising for the less fortunate in India and promotion of India's art and culture and multi culturalism in North America. He was conferred the Order of Canada, the highest civilian honour of Canada, on 3 May 2013. Ghulam Qadir Wani
Ghulam Qadir Wani (11 March 1953 – 4 November 1998) was a Kashmiri scholar and diplomat. Early life Wani was born in a middle-class family in Arin in north Kashmir's township of Bandipore. He was a product of Jamaat-e-Islami. As early as 8th grade he wrote an article in ''Srinagar Times'' about feudalism brought him to the attention of the group. He pursued a master's degree in English from Kashmir University and later completed a doctorate on Iqbalism from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi. Wani spent six months in 1973 in the Bagh-e-Mehtab Interrogation Centre, working against the Indira Shiekh Accord that was underway through Beg Parthasthi dialogue. Wani (dragon)
was a dragon or sea monster in Japanese mythology. Since it is written using the kanji 鰐 (from Chinese ''e'' 鰐 or 鱷 "crocodile; alligator") ''wani'' is translated as "crocodile", or sometimes "shark" (from ''wanizame'' 鰐鮫 "shark"). ''Wani'' first occurs in two ancient Japanese "mytho-histories", the ca. 680 CE ''Kojiki'' and ca. 720 CE '' Nihongi''. They write ''wani'' with the Man'yōgana phonetic transcription 和邇 and the kanji 鰐.
