Wang Wei (Liang Dynasty)
Wang Wei (, died 552) was the chief strategist for Hou Jing, who controlled the imperial government of and briefly took over the throne of the Chinese Liang Dynasty and established his short-lived state of Han. Wang Wei advised Hou Jing during the latter's time as general and was elevated to prime minister during Hou's time in power. Although Wang Wei was successful as an adviser and strategist, he was captured and executed by Hou Jing's enemy, Xiao Yi after Hou's defeat and retreat east. As Hou Jing's chief strategist Wang was from Yingchuan Commandery ( 潁 川, roughly modern Xuchang, Henan). His ancestors were from Lüeyang Commandery ( 略 陽, roughly modern Tianshui, Gansu), but as his father Wang Lüe ( 王 略) served as the county magistrate of Xuchang County (許昌, Yingchuan Commandery's seat), the family remained in Yingchuan. Wang Wei (; born 22 June 1989) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays as a versatile midfielder or full back for Chinese Super League team Meizhou Hakka. Club career Wang Wei started his professional football career in 2009 when he was promoted to China League Two side Beijing Baxy's first team squad. He transferred to China League One side Qingdao Jonoon in February 2014 after a successful trial. On 16 March 2014, he made his debut in a 1–1 home draw with Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard. He scored his first goal for the club on 29 March 2014 in a 1–1 home draw against Shenyang Zhongze. Wei Wang is a Chinese-born American computer scientist. She is the Leonard Kleinrock Chair Professor in Computer Science and Computational Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles and the director of the Scalable Analytics Institute (ScAi). Her research specializes in big data analytics and modeling, database systems, natural language processing, bioinformatics and computational biology, and computational medicine. Hainan Island Incident
The Hainan Island incident occurred on April 1, 2001, when a United States Navy EP-3E ARIES II signals intelligence aircraft and a People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) J-8II interceptor fighter jet collided in mid-air, resulting in an international dispute between the United States and the People's Republic of China (PRC). The EP-3 was operating about away from the PRC island province of Hainan, as well as about away from the China military installation in the Paracel Islands, when it was intercepted by two J-8 fighters. A collision between the EP-3 and one of the J-8s caused a PRC pilot to go missing (later presumed dead); the EP-3 was forced to make an emergency landing on Hainan. Wang Wei (; born January 1960) is a Chinese politician. He spent a major part of his career at the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. In 2013, Wang was named the deputy director of the office in charge of the Three Gorges Dam project. Career Wang was born in Jianchang County, Liaoning province. He studied political economics at Renmin University of China. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1983, and first worked as a Communist Youth League functionary at his alma mater. Athletics At The 1993 East Asian Games
At the 1993 East Asian Games, the athletics events were held at the Yuanshen Sports Centre Stadium in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. A total of 41 events were contested, of which 22 by male and 19 by female athletes. The competition featured only track and field events as there was no marathon race and the 20 km walk was held on the track. The host country, China, dominated the proceedings by winning the most gold medals and having the highest overall total. Wang Wei (Tang Dynasty)
Wang Wei (; 699–759) was a Chinese poet, musician, painter, and politician of the middle Tang dynasty. He is regarded as one of the most famous men of arts and letters of his era. Many of his poems survive and 29 of them are included in the 18th-century anthology ''Three Hundred Tang Poems''. Wang Wei is especially known as a poet and painter of nature. Some 400 poems survive. These were first collected and originally edited into a corpus by his next-youngest brother, Wang Jin, by imperial command. Of his paintings, no authenticated specimens survive, although there is evidence of his work through influences on later paintings and descriptive accounts of his paintings. His musical talents were regarded very highly, although nothing survives of his music except reports. He furthermore had a successful career as a court official.
