Wang Sheng-wei
Wang Sheng-wei (; born 1 April 1984 in Taiwan), nicknamed "Magneto" and known as Haro Ngayaw in Amis language, is a Taiwanese baseball shortstop for the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He holds the record for most Gold Gloves by any CPBL player with nine. Career In 2005, he played for the Anchorage Bucs of the Alaska Baseball League. In 2008, he was signed by the CTBC Brothers. That year he lead the league in stolen bases with 24 and earned the Stolen Bases Award. In the same season, he was hit by 19 pitches, which was the single season record at the time. In 2009, he improved his performance by raising his batting average to .305, and he recorded 42 stolen bases to lead the league in the stat for the second year in a row. In 2017, he reached 100 hit by pitches, tying the record that was then held by Chen Je-chang. He would hold this record for a short time, eventually being overtaken by Lin Hung-yu. CTBC Brothers
The CTBC Brothers () or simply Brothers are a professional baseball team in Taiwan. The team was originally established as an amateur team in 1984 by the Brother Hotel located in Taipei City, and later joined the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in 1989. Brother Hotel's chairman Hung Teng-sheng (洪騰勝) also acted as CPBL's secretary-general from 1987 to 1991. The Brothers are currently owned by CTBC Holding. With its long history from the amateur era plus a successful marketing strategy and management, the team has long been one of the most popular Taiwanese baseball teams, winning the CPBL championship on nine occasions. Alaska Baseball League
The Alaska Baseball League (ABL) is an amateur collegiate summer baseball league. Players in the league must have attended one year of college and must have one year of NCAA eligibility remaining. The Midnight Sun Game, held at Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks on the longest day of each year, is one of the highlights of the Alaska Baseball League season. In the past, the ABL has sent its top teams to compete at the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series, where the league's representatives have won multiple championships. 2017 World Baseball Classic
The 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, composed of 16 competing nations, held from March 6 to March 22, 2017. It was the fourth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. The first-round hosts were Seoul, Tokyo, Miami, and Zapopan. The second-round hosts were Tokyo and San Diego, and the championship round was played in Los Angeles. 2009 World Baseball Classic
The 2009 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international baseball competition. It began on 5 9 and finished 5 26. Unlike in 2006, when the round-robin format of the first two rounds led to some eliminations being decided by run-difference tiebreakers, the first two rounds of the 2009 edition were modified double-elimination format. The modification was that the final game of each bracket was winner-take-all, even if won by the team emerging from the loser's bracket, although that game only affected seeding, as two teams always advanced from each bracket. The biggest surprise in the first round was the Netherlands, which twice defeated the Dominican Republic in Pool D to advance. Eight teams qualified for the Olympic baseball tournament. The host nation qualifies automatically. World University Baseball Championship
The World University Baseball Championship is an under-23 international college baseball competition sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and was first held in 2002 in Italy. Until 2013, it was sanctioned by the then-International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and was one of several tournaments considered by the IBAF to be a minor world championship, and as such the results of the tournaments affected the IBAF World Rankings. 2005 Baseball World Cup
The 2005 Baseball World Cup (BWC) was the 36th international Men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation, which titled it the Amateur World Series from the 1938 tournament through the 1986 AWS. The tournament was held, for the second time, in the Netherlands, from September 2 to 17. Cuba defeated South Korea in the final, winning its 25th title. There were 18 participating countries, split into two groups, with the first four of each group qualifying for the finals.
