Wang Rong (politician)
Wang Rong (; born April 1958) is a Chinese politician who has served in prominent regional posts in Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Guangdong People's Political Consultative Conference, a mostly ceremonial political advisory body. Wang spent much of his career in his native Jiangsu province. He has an academic background in the field of agriculture. He served successively as the Communist Party Secretary of the cities of Wuxi and Suzhou in Jiangsu, before being transferred in 2010 to serve as acting mayor, then Party Secretary of Shenzhen, a position he served in until 2015. Wang was an alternate member of the 17th and 18th Central Committees of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Xi Jinping's Anti-corruption Campaign
A far-reaching anti-corruption campaign began in China following the conclusion of the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 2012. The campaign, carried out under the aegis of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, was the largest organized anti-corruption effort in the history of CCP rule in China. Upon taking office, Xi vowed to crack down on "tigers and flies", that is, high-level officials and local civil servants alike. Most of the officials investigated were removed from office and faced accusations of bribery and abuse of power, although the range of alleged abuses varied widely. Xi Jinping
Xi Jinping ( ; ; ; born 15 June 1953) is a Chinese politician who has served as the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and thus as the paramount leader of China, since 2012. Xi has also served as the president of the People's Republic of China (PRC) since 2013. Wang Yang (politician)
Wang Yang (; Pinyin: Wāng Yáng; born 5 March 1955) is a Chinese politician who is the outgoing chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Previously, Wang was one of the four vice premiers of China in premier Li Keqiang's Cabinet between 2013 and 2018. Until December 2012, he served as the Communist Party secretary of Guangdong, the province's top political office. He served as the Communist Party secretary of Chongqing, an interior municipality, from 2005 to 2007. Wang also held a seat on the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party from 2007 to 2022, and the Politburo Standing Committee from 2017 to 2022. Xu Zongheng
Xu Zongheng (; born July 1955) is a Chinese politician who was the mayor of Shenzhen, Guangdong, China from June 2005 to June 2009. During his term of service, an agreement was reached on the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Circle to develop both cities into a metropolis. Xu was born in Xiangtan, Hunan province. In June 2009, Xu was placed under investigation for "severe violations" and later dismissed from the mayor position. When Deng Xiaoping took over as the paramount leader of the People's Republic of China (PRC), he presented himself as a pragmatic contrast to his predecessor Mao, who was more of a theorist and an ideologist. The Cultural Revolution, formally known as the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, was a sociopolitical movement in the People's Republic of China (PRC) launched by Mao Zedong in 1966, and lasting until his death in 1976. Its stated goal was to preserve Chinese communism by purging remnants of capitalist and traditional elements from Chinese society.
