Walton Street is a street within central London's Chelsea district, bordering Knightsbridge. It runs south-west to north-east from Draycott Avenue to Walton Place, parallel to Brompton Road to the north. It is known for its boutiques and restaurants. On 18 November 1975, the Walton's Restaurant bombing took place, when an Irish Republican Army (IRA) unit nicknamed the Balcombe Street Gang threw a bomb into Walton's Restaurant without warning, killing two people and injuring almost two dozen. Walton-on-Thames, locally known as Walton, is a market town on the south bank of the Thames in the Elmbridge borough of Surrey, England. Walton forms part of the Greater London built-up area, within the KT postcode and is served by a wide range of transport links. Walton is a settlement and former civil parish in the East Suffolk district, in the county of Suffolk, England, lying between the rivers Orwell and Deben. It is now part of Felixstowe parish. In 1911 the parish had a population of 4226. History There is archaeological evidence of Bronze Age field systems near Walton Hall. A Late Bronze Age hoard comprising a Type 4 barbed spearhead and a south-eastern type socketed axe was found in the first railway cutting to the west of the Lilds site in the 19th century (FEX 010). A Roman coin of Antoninus pius (AD 157–8)was discovered just to the west of the Lidls site (FEX 029). Later, a Roman fort, Walton Castle, enclosing about , similar to Burgh Castle, stood on high land near Brackenbury Fort and Bull's Cliff, now in Felixstowe. Walton, Somerset
Walton is a village and civil parish, on the Polden Hills, west of Street in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. The parish includes the hamlet of Asney. History Saxon pressure seems to have driven the Britons from the immediate area around 650 A.D. About 700 A.D. the former Celtic monastery at Glastonbury was revived under royal Saxon patronage. By about 740 A.D. the general lines of parish boundaries in this area seem to have been fixed. This early development may well have been due to the organising urges of the monastic authorities. Walton Manor
Walton Manor is a residential suburb in Oxford, England. It is north of Jericho and the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter and forms part of North Oxford. The street layout and many of the area's buildings date from the mid-19th century. It was developed on land belonging to St John's College, Oxford. In 1975, Walton Manor was designated as a Conservation Area under the Town and Country Planning Act 1971. The conservation area is bounded by Leckford Road on the north, Woodstock Road on the east, the properties fronting Observatory Street to the south, and Kingston Road and Walton Street to the west. The main road north–south through the area is Kingston Road, which continues southwards as Walton Street towards the city centre. Walton Manor has a residents' association.
