Walter Müller (footballer, Born 1920)
Walter Müller (2 January 1920 – 14 December 2010) was a Swiss footballer. He played as a goalkeeper. Club football In 1942 Müller moved from his home club FC Birsfelden to FC Basel during their 1942–43 season. His transfer sum (CHF 2500.00) was enormous for its time. Müller played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 5 September 1943 as Basel drew 1–1 with Luzern. Müller spent fourteen years between the posts for RotBlau, mainly as their first choice goalkeeper, playing in total 380 matches. 249 of these games were in the Swiss Nationalliga and 42 were in the Swiss Cup. The other 89 were friendly games. His biggest success was the championship title in Basel's 1952–53 season. In addition to this title, Müller also reached the Swiss Cup final twice, one victory and one defeat. A player-coach (also playing coach, captain-coach, or player-manager) is a member of a sports team who simultaneously holds both playing and coaching duties. EHC Basel
EHC Basel known as Eishockey Club Basel are a professional Swiss ice hockey team. They are based out of the St. Jakob Arena in Basel, Switzerland. EHC Basel was founded on October 14, 1932. Were promoted to the Nationalliga A for 2005–06 after winning the Nationalliga B the previous season. They made the playoffs and were drawn against defending champions HC Davos in the first round, losing the series 4-1. Basel finished in last place in 2006–07, but managed to avoid relegation by beating SCL Tigers in the playouts. EHC Basel has won five championships of the Nationalliga B in 1935, 1941, 1956, 2003, and 2005. Again in 2007-08 they finished bottom and were relegated to National League B (after losing in the playouts). The club has hosted a preseason tournament called Basel Summer Ice Hockey since 2009. 1950–51 FC Basel Season
The 1950–51 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 57th season in their existence. It was their fifth season in Nationalliga A the top flight of Swiss football following their promotion from the Nationalliga B in the season 1945–46. For the second consecutive season Basel played their home games in the Stadion Schützenmatte in the Bachletten quartier in the southwestern edge of the city of Basel. Jules Düblin was the club's chairman for the fifth successive season. Overview Ernst Hufschmid, who had functioned as player-coach the previous three seasons, continued in this function this year.
