Walter Koppisch
Walter Frederic Koppisch (June 6, 1901 – November 5, 1953) was an American football halfback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Buffalo Bisons and New York Giants. He attended Columbia University. At 23 years old, Koppisch, a local celebrity and high school football star, was named the head coach of the Buffalo Bisons, making him among the youngest head coaches in NFL history. Koppisch is considered one of the earliest busts in the NFL, having spectacularly failed to meet the high expectations of him in his lone season in Buffalo, although the expectations may have been unwarranted due to changes outside of his control. Koppisch was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981. Pendleton, New York
Pendleton is a town on the southern edge of Niagara County, New York, United States. It is east of the city of Niagara Falls and southwest of the city of Lockport. The population was 6,397 at the 2010 census. History The town of Pendleton was set apart in 1827 from part of the town of Niagara. Sylvester Pendleton Clark, one of the first settlers, gave his name to several locations in the town and eventually to the town itself. Eddie Kaw
Edgar Lawrence Kaw (January 18, 1897 – December 13, 1971) was an American football player. He attended Cornell University, where he was a prominent halfback on coach Gil Dobie's Cornell Big Red football team, graduating in 1923. He was a shifty open-field runner known as one of the sport's greatest. His stride had one foot farther than the other. Kaw scored 90 points in 1921. That year, Cornell beat Penn 41–0 in the mud, and Kaw scored five touchdowns. Kaw "skipped over the ooze and water as if he were running on a cinder track, sidestepping a small lake and a Penn tackler with one and the same motion." Benjamin Lee Boynton (December 6, 1898 – January 23, 1963), "The Purple Streak", was a professional football player who played during the early years of the National Football League.
