Walter Edward Harris
Walter Edward Harris, (January 14, 1904 – January 10, 1999) was a Canadian politician and lawyer. Harris was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada as the Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ontario riding of Grey-Bruce in the 1940 election defeating Agnes MacPhail. Despite being a newly elected MP, he enlisted in the military and served for four years, seeing action in France during World War II. He served as parliamentary secretary to Louis St. Laurent when he was Secretary of State for External Affairs in the Mackenzie King cabinet. He continued as parliamentary secretary to St. Laurent when he became Prime Minister of Canada in 1948 until 1950 when St. Laurent brought Harris into the Canadian Cabinet. Harris served as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration until 1954 when he was promoted to Minister of Finance. He was Finance Minister during a period of great economic growth. Walter Harris (15 October 1925 – 9 May 2019) was a British author and broadcaster. He is the author of ten published novels, several volumes of poetry, numerous articles and spoken word recordings. Recordings of his interviews and broadcasts are held at the BBC Sound Archive and the British Library. Life and career Harris joined the RAF directly from Haileybury and Imperial Service College, Haileybury in 1943. In Cairo he was German interpreter to Africa Korps POWs and playwright in RAF Repertory Company and news reader on the Forces Network. Post War, Harris emigrated to Brazil and wrote for two English-language newspapers until being sponsored by a major Canadian-owned public utility, Brazilian Traction, to write and present a series of English-language radio shows on Radio Nacional, Rio de Janeiro. Walter Harris (June 10, 1931 – January 12, 2009), also known as Simogyet Geel, was a Canadian artist and hereditary chief from the Gitxsan (Gitksan) First Nation in northwestern British Columbia. Biography Harris was born to parents Chris and Clara Harris in Kispiox. In 1957, Harris became the hereditary Chief of the Fireweed Clan, assuming the name Chief Geel from his uncle. His crest is the killer whale. In the 1960s, during his partnership in a small lumber mill and working as a carpenter, Harris worked on the reconstructed village of 'Ksan, at Hazelton. This led him to enrol at the Gitanmaax School of Northwest Coast Indian Art in 1969, studying jewellery under Jack Leyland, wood carving under Duane Pasco and Doug Cranmer, and attended seminars on Northwest Coast graphic design given by Bill Holm. Football career Walter Harris served as a devoted member to the Spanish football society, during his time he also of accumulated a massage and bath business in Droitwich Spa. He may have possibly been a player who went by the name Walter Harris, based on archive records in 1906 at Barcelona of the same name, although this is not confirmed. It is here he may have begun his career in Spanish football eventually going onto become a club manager within Spain. Known in Spanish football as Mr. Harris, arrived in Spain in 1922 to coach the historic team Real Unión. In 1922 he was the coach of the Basque Country. In 1924 he moved to Paris, where he carried out work as a masseur and assistant manager of the France national team in the Paris Olympics of 1924, he became assistant trainer to Tom Griffiths. Walter Harris (1686–1761) was an Anglo-Irish historian and writer. Life Harris was educated at Kilkenny College and Trinity College, Dublin. He married Elizabeth Ware, great-granddaughter of Sir James Ware, the historian, in 1716 and became vicar-general to the Archbishop of Meath in 1753. Harris received a government pension in 1748, which enabled him to work on histories and religious writings. In the 1740s he was involved with the Physico-Historical Society, a similar society to the Royal Dublin Society, along with Robert Jocelyn, the politician; Dr. Samuel Madden, the philanthropist; Thomas Prior, the founder of the Royal Dublin Society; John Rutty the physician and naturalist; John Lodge, author of ''Peerage of Ireland''; and Charles Smith, the topographer and historian. Walter Burton Harris (29 August 1866 – 4 April 1933) was a journalist, writer, traveller and socialite who achieved fame for his writings on Morocco, where he worked for many years as special correspondent for ''The Times''. He settled in the country at the age of 19, eventually building himself a fine villa in Tangier where he lived for much of his life. His linguistic skills and physical appearance enabled him to pose successfully as a native Moroccan, travelling to parts of the country regarded as off-limits to foreigners. He wrote a number of well-regarded books and articles on his travels in Morocco and other countries in the Near and Far East. Walter Alexander Harris
Walter Alexander Harris (November 17, 1875 – March 15, 1958) was a lawyer, writer, and U.S. Army officer in the early 20th century. He served in World War I, among other conflicts. Biography Harris was born in Macon, Georgia, on November 17, 1875 to Nathaniel Edwin Harris. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1895 with an A.B., and he received an LL.B. in 1896 and an LL.D. in 1928. Harris entered the Georgia Bar Association in 1896, and he practiced law at the firm Harris, Russel, Weaver, and Watkins, in Macon. He also served on the Bibb County Board of Education from 1905 to 1912. He also was a member of the American Bar Association. Harris joined the Third Georgia Volunteer Infantry on May 1, 1898. Walter Lee Harris (born August 10, 1974) is a former American football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. He played college football for Mississippi State University and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round (13th overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. He played for the Bears for six years and was then signed as a free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2002. He then signed with Washington Redskins in 2004. Harris served as the head football coach at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California from 1989 to 1991, the University of Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2004, and at Stanford University from 2005 to 2006, compiling a career college football record of 69–85.
