Hildesheim
Hildesheim (; nds, Hilmessen, Hilmssen; la, Hildesia) is a city in Lower Saxony, Germany with 101,693 inhabitants. It is in the district of Hildesheim, about southeast of Hanover on the banks of the Innerste River, a small tributary of the Leine River. The Holy Roman Emperor Louis the Pious founded the Bishopric of Hildesheim in 815 and created the first settlement with a chapel on the so called ''Domhügel''. Hildesheim is situated on autobahn route 7, and hence is at the connection point of the North (Hamburg and beyond) with the South of Europe. With the Hildesheim Cathedral and the St. Michael's Church, Hildesheim became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. In 2015 the city and the diocese celebrated their 1200th anniversary. Michael Buddrus
Michael Buddrus (born 1957) is a German historian. Life Born in Bad Doberan, From 1974 Buddrus completed a three-year locksmithing apprenticeship in Warnemünde. From 1978 to 1983 he studied at the University of Rostock. Afterwards he worked as a research assistant at the Schiffbau- und Schifffahrtsmuseum Rostock. In the years 1985-1988 he was an aspirant at the University of Rostock. With a doctoral thesis on the history of the Hitler Youth he succeeded in 1989 in obtaining the Promotion A. He then worked until 1991 as a research assistant at the Institute for German History of the German Academy of Sciences at Berlin, then until 1993 as a research assistant at the University of Siegen. In 1994 he moved to the Institute of Contemporary History (Munich). He conducts biographical research on National Socialist functionaries and researches on Mecklenburg history in Nazi Germany. Andreas Holschneider
Andreas Holschneider (6 April 1931 – 24 September 2019) was a German music historian and writer. Life Holschneider was born in 1931 in Freiburg im Breisgau as the oldest of four sons of the chemist Friedrich Wilhelm Holschneider and Olga Holschneider, ''née'' Krafft. He studied piano with Edith Picht-Axenfeld at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg where he received his concert diploma in 1956, then studied musicology and Romance studies and was awarded the degree "pianist" (Dr. phil.) in 1960 with a thesis on Handel's ''Messias'' in Mozart's arrangement at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. After a one-year research stay in Italy to study sources for the ''Neue Mozart-Ausgabe'', he became an assistant at the Musicological Institute of Hamburg University. He got his habilitation there with a thesis on the earliest counterpoint music pieces in the Middle Ages. In 1970 he took over the management of the Archiv Produktion of Deutsche Grammophon.
