Walter Smith Cox
Walter Smith Cox (October 25, 1826 – June 25, 1902) was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia. Education and career Born in Georgetown, then a separate municipality in the District of Columbia, Cox received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University in 1843, a Master of Arts degree from the same institution in 1844, and a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1847. He was in private practice in Washington, D.C. from 1848 to 1879, and during that period was also a recorder for the City of Georgetown, an Alderman for the City of Georgetown, and an auditor of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia. From 1874 to 1879, he was a Professor of law at what was then called Columbian University, known today as George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Walter Cox (1849–1925) was an English footballer and manager for Stoke. Career Cox was another ex-Stoke player who stepped into the manager's seat vacated by Thomas Slaney in 1883. Cox's reign however was a comparatively short one, and he was replaced by Harry Lockett after less than a year in charge. Walter Cox (footballer, Born 1863)
Walter Cox (born 1863), also credited as William Cox, was a Scottish professional association footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played a total of 30 matches in the Football League for Burnley and Everton. Playing career Cox started his career in his native Scotland with Leith Harp before briefly joining Leith Athletic and then Football League side Burnley midway through the 1888–89 season. He was signed to replace Robert Kay, who had just been released by the club. Cox made his Burnley debut on 10 November 1888 at Turf Moor, Burnley and he replaced Fred Poland as goalkeeper. The visitors were West Bromwich Albion. Cox played well and made some notable saves in the opening quarter-hour. Burnley took the lead after twenty minutes and only poor finishing prevented Burnley from having a larger lead at half-time. Walter Cox (footballer, Born 1872)
Walter Tom Cox (1872–1930) was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper for various clubs around the turn of the 20th century. Football career Cox was born in Southampton and started playing for the newly formed Southampton St Mary's club in 1892 as an outfield player. He later converted to a goalkeeper and made his first-team debut when he replaced Jack Barrett in an FA Cup match at the Antelope Ground against Reading on 3 November 1894. Cox retained his place for the next cup match against Marlow before being replaced by H. Williamson. Cox made his Southern League debut away to Royal Ordnance on 5 October 1895 before Tom Cain took over as the first-choice 'keeper. Although Cain was preferred for League matches, Cox played in all five FA Cup matches, where the club reached the First Round proper for the second consecutive season, going down 3–2 to The Wednesday of the Football League First Division. Walter Alfred Cox
Walter Alfred Cox (London 10 August 1862 – 10 November 1931 London) was a British printmaker and painter. He mostly worked in etching and mezzotint. Life Born at St Pancras, Middlesex, Cox was the fourth son of Thomas Henry Whitmore Cox, an art printer, and his first job after leaving school was as a clerk to a silk merchant in the City of London. In 1879 he was apprenticed to the Danish engraver Joel John Ballin da">:da:Joel_Ballin.html" ;"title="small>:da:Joel Ballin">daand worked for him in London for three years, while also attending evening classes at the West London School of Art. At the St Pancras Industrial Exhibition of 1880, he entered a crayon drawing and won a silver medal.
