Walled Lake, Michigan
Walled Lake is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,999 at the 2010 census. The city is bordered by Commerce Township on the north and the city of Novi on the south. As a western suburb of Metro Detroit, Walled Lake is about northwest of Detroit. History The town's name is said to have been given by the first American settler, Walter Hewitt, in 1825. Upon his arrival, he noticed what appeared to be a stone wall along the western bank of a nearby lake, possibly constructed by earlier Potawatomi Indian tribes. Walled Lake was a village inhabited by Ojibwa and Potowatamie people until about 1830. It appears that these people had relocated from an earlier village in the area that is today Southfield. Resting spots along the Underground Railroad, where runaway slaves could sleep and eat, were called "depots". The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968. Randy Huntington (born ) is an American track and field coach. He is one of the five rated USATF Master Coaches for jumps in the U.S. Seven of his athletes have been in the U.S. all-time top 10 in their events. He has coached Mike Powell and Willie Banks, who set world records in the long jump and triple jump events, respectively. He later moved to China where he worked as a coach for the Chinese national track and field team. Cody White (born November 28, 1998) is an American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Michigan State. Early life and high school White was born and grew up in Novi, Michigan and attended Walled Lake Western High School, where he was a member of the baseball, basketball, football, and track teams. Cameron Scott Vieaux (born December 5, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Angels organization. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He made his MLB debut in 2022. Amateur career Vieaux graduated from Walled Lake Western High School in Commerce Township, Michigan. He played baseball for Walled Lake Western, but was not draft (sports), drafted out of high school. Vieaux enrolled at Michigan State University and walk-on (sports), walked on to the Michigan State Spartans baseball team. In 2015, as a Redshirt (college sports), redshirt sophomore, Vieaux had a 4-7 win-loss record (pitching), win-loss record and a 3.49 earned run average (ERA). Josh Jones (born September 20, 1994) is an American football safety for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding.
