Wallace Gustafson
Wallace Frank "Wally" Gustafson (January 21, 1925 – September 10, 2018) was an American lawyer and politician. Biography Gustafson was born in Palmyra Township, Renville County, Minnesota and graduated from Bird Island High School, in Bird Island, Minnesota, in 1942. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration and his law degree from University of Minnesota in 190. Gustafson practices law in Willmar, Minnesota. Gustafson served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1963 to 1972 and was involved in the Republican Party. Gustafson died at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota St. Cloud is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and the largest population center in the state's central region. History Palmyra Township was organized in 1872, and named after Palmyra, Wisconsin. Wallace Gustafson (1925-2018), Minnesota state legislator and lawyer, was born in Palmyra Township. Bird Island is a city located on U.S. Route 212 in Renville County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,005 at the 2020 census. History Bird Island was platted in 1878, and named for a nearby bird sanctuary in a marsh. After the installation of ditches and tile, the area was converted to farmland, erasing the town's namesake. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. The GOP was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists who opposed the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories.
