Wales National Netball Team
The Wales national netball team represents Wales in international netball competition. The Welsh Netball Association ( cy, Cymdeithas Bêl-Rwyd Cymru), the governing body for netball in Wales, is responsible for Welsh squad selection, international matches and for the training and development of players. Wales' current International Netball Federation (INF) world ranking is ninth, as of 2 December 2019. Wales Netball ( cy, Pêl-rwyd Cymru), formally registered as the Wales Netball Association ( cy, Cymdeithas Pêl-rwyd Cymru), is the national governing body for netball in Wales and was founded in 1945. Wales Netball is responsible for national championships, Wales national netball team selection, international matches, the training and development of players, coaches and umpires and for the Sport Wales National Centre Netball Academy, Cardiff. Wales Netball was a founder member of the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA)—which governs world netball—in 1960. Netball is played in over fifty countries. Wales' current IFNA world ranking is eighth (last updated 17 May 2015). Kingston, Jamaica
Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. 2011 World Netball Championships
The 2011 World Netball Championships was the 13th edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball. It was held in Singapore from 3–10 July. All 48 matches were played at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Singapore was chosen as the host nation at the 2007 IFNA Congress in Auckland. Sixteen nations contested the week-long tournament. Ten nations gained selection for the World Championships in five regional qualifying tournaments held from 2010–11; the top five national teams from the 2007 tournament also qualified, along with host nation Singapore. The teams were divided into four pools, in which teams played every other team once. The two highest teams in each pool progressed to the quarter-finals, while the remaining teams played in classification matches to determine the 9th–16th placings. 2007 World Netball Championships
The 2007 World Netball Championships was the 12th edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball co-ordinated by the International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA). Sixteen nations contested the title from 10 to the 17 November. It was held in the West part of Auckland, New Zealand. Forty-eight matches over 8 days were played in The Trusts Stadium, Waitakere. The event was broadcast to over half a dozen countries Australia defended its eighth title to defeat the home side, New Zealand, 42–38. Withdrawal of hosting rights After seeing off competing bids from Australia and South Africa, Fiji was awarded the hosting rights for the 2007 World Netball Championships in November 2003. 2003 World Netball Championships
The 2003 World Netball Championships were the eleventh edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball. It was held in Kingston, Jamaica from 10 to 20 July. After 100 matches, New Zealand's Silver Ferns defeated Australia to take the title after its last title 16 years previously. The host country, Jamaica, finished third. The 1999 World Netball Championships (also known as the Vodafone World Netball Championships for sponsorship reasons) was the tenth edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball. It was held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 21 September to 2 October 1999 and featured 26 teams with the debut of Niue, Tonga and Zambia. All matches were held at the Westpac Arena. Fourteen teams entered the preliminary round with four teams qualifying to the main round where they were joined by the top twelve teams from the 1995 World Netball Championships, 1995 championships. The 1991 World Netball Championships (also known as the Johnson & Johnson World Netball Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the eighth edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball. It was held in Sydney, Australia from 1 to 13 July 1991 and featured 20 teams. At this edition of the tournament, four teams debuted: Cayman Islands, Namibia, Vanuatu and Western Samoa. The tournament was held at two venues with the Sydney Entertainment Centre hosting the final. The format of the 1991 edition saw a change with the format introducing a knockout phase with the top two teams qualifying to the semi-finals where the winner was decided.
