Waldron High School (Arkansas)
Waldron High School is a comprehensive public secondary school located in Waldron, Arkansas, United States. The school educates more than 450 students annually in grades nine through twelve. Waldron is the larger of two public high schools in Scott County and is the sole high school administered by the Waldron School District. Academics The assumed course of study for students is to complete the Smart Core curriculum developed by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), which requires students complete at least 22 units for graduation. Students complete regular (core and career focus) courses and exams and may select Advanced Placement classes and exams with opportunities for college credit via AP exam. The school is accredited by the ADE and receives Title I federal funding. As of June 23, 2012, accreditation is under advisement with AdvancED. Waldron, Arkansas
Waldron is a city in Scott County, Arkansas, United States. Its population was 3,386 at the 2020 census. The city is the county seat of Scott County. History Waldron was platted in 1845 by surveyor W. P. Waldron, and named for him. A post office called Waldron has been in operation since 1846. Waldron was incorporated in 1875. Waldron was reached by the Arkansas Western Railroad from Heavener, Oklahoma in 1901. Later called the Arkansas Western Railway, a subsidiary of and subsequently incorporated into the Kansas City Southern, the line is now leased to and operated by the Arkansas Southern Railroad. Geography Waldron is located at (34.899191, -94.091483). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and (1.19%) is water. Waldron, Michigan
Waldron is a village in Hillsdale County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 505 at the 2020 census. The village is located within Wright Township. History The first settler to the area was Russell Coman, who came from New York in 1835. In 1837, the early settlers submitted the new name of the community as Coman, but a clerical error ended up assigning the community's name as Canaan. It was renamed Wright after the township in 1844. A post office opened on November 2, 1855 and was named South Wright due to the community's southern location in the township. In 1877, portions of the community were formally platted and adopted under the name Waldron after congressman Henry Waldron of Hillsdale, who represented the area in the U.S. House of Representatives.
