Waldir DeSouza
Waldir de Souza (born 7 June 1952) is a Brazilian former football player and manager who played as a defender. Playing career DeSouza played with Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. In 1976, he played abroad in the National Soccer League with Windsor Stars. In his debut season he was selected for the NSL Selects team. He re-signed with Windsor for the 1977 season and also played in the 1978 season. In 1979, he played in the American Soccer League with New York Eagles. In the winter of 1979, he played in the Major Indoor Soccer League with Detroit Lightning. The following season, he signed with league rivals Baltimore Blast. After a season in Baltimore he was released and signed with the Kansas City Comets. Major Indoor Soccer League (1978–1992)
The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), known in its final two seasons as the Major Soccer League, was an indoor soccer league in the United States that played matches from fall 1978 to spring 1992. History The MISL was founded by businessmen Ed Tepper and Earl Foreman in October 1977. The league fielded six teams for its inaugural 1978–79 season. Before folding after 14 seasons of competition, at the conclusion of the 1991–92 season, a total of 24 franchises – under 31 team names (seven teams changed city/name) – had played in the MISL. Over its life, MISL teams were based in 27 different cities – with two different teams, at different times, playing in Cleveland, East Rutherford, New Jersey, St. Louis and Uniondale, New York. The 1991 National Soccer League season was the sixty-eighth season under the National Soccer League (NSL) name. The season concluded on September 22, 1991, with Toronto Italia securing the NSL Championship by finishing first in the standings by a single-point difference between Scarborough International and St. Catharines Roma. Ontario Cup
The Ontario Cup is a soccer tournament for clubs based in the province of Ontario in Canada. It began play in 1901 under the Ontario Football Association League, now known as the Ontario Soccer Association, and is the oldest association football competition in North America. History The cup was first played as a senior men's tournament in 1901, making it one of the oldest active sporting competitions in Canada.
