Alfred Von Waldersee
Alfred Ludwig Heinrich Karl Graf von Waldersee (8 April 1832 in Potsdam5 March 1904 in Hanover) was a German field marshal (''Generalfeldmarschall'') who became Chief of the Imperial German General Staff. Born into a prominent military family, von Waldersee saw distinguished service as an artillery officer, and became Prussian military attaché at the Paris embassy in 1870. This gave him insight into the French defences that would prove crucial in the upcoming Franco-Prussian War, in which he played a significant role. Later, as principal assistant to Field-Marshal Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke, Helmuth von Moltke the Elder, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, von Waldersee gained influence with the future Kaiser Wilhelm II, who promoted him Chief of Staff on his accession. When the Peking legation compound was besieged by the Boxer Rebellion, Boxer insurgents in 1900, von Waldersee was appointed as head of an 8-nation relief force. Friedrich Gustav Graf von Waldersee (born 21 July 1795 in Dessau, died 15 January 1864 in Potsdam) was a Prussian Lieutenant General and military author. Friedrich Graf von Waldersee was a son of Franz Graf Waldersee, son of Leopold III, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau. His brother was Franz Heinrich Graf von Waldersee, his nephew Alfred von Waldersee. On 2 July 1823 he married Ottilie von Wedel (1803-1882) in Silligsdorf. The marriage produced the following children: *Gustav Ludwig Otto Eduard von Waldersee (1826–1861) *Rudolf Karl von Waldersee (1827–1870) *Helene von Waldersee (1830–1869) *Bertha von Waldersee (1833–1884) Von Waldersee was a Prussian officer and professional soldier, and later commander of the "Gardekorps Kaiser Alexander Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 1" in Berlin. Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Waldersee was an Imperial German Army general in World War I. He was a nephew of Field Marshal Alfred von Waldersee. Life Waldersee was born in the Kingdom of Prussia as the son of Colonel Georg Ernest von Waldersee, who died during the Franco-Prussian War. He even had ancestors of House of Hohenzollern. He entered the Prussian Army on 14 May 1880 as a Second Lieutenant. After 8 years of service, Waldersee was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant. Later he became the chief of staff of VII Corps (German Empire), VII Corps, led by Moritz von Bissing. Later he became the commander of the 17th (1st Grand Ducal Mecklenburgian) Dragoons, 17th Dragoon Regiment. On 22 April 1912 Waldersee was promoted to Generalmajor.
