Wakefield School
Wakefield School is an independent day school located in The Plains, Virginia, with classes ranging from junior kindergarten to 12th grade. It was founded in Huntly, Virginia in 1972 as Wakefield Country Day School, and changed its name to Wakefield School in the early 1980s when it established a small boarding department (boarding was discontinued after a few years). After a disagreement with the founders of the school, the half of the board of trustees moved the school from the Huntly location and re-founded the school at Marshall, Virginia in 1991, and moved later to Archwood Farm in The Plains (the first campus owned by the board of trustees) in 1996. Highland School (Warrenton, Virginia)
Highland School is an independent school located in Warrenton, Virginia. Highland was founded in 1928 by Dorothy Rust and Lavinia Hamilton as the Warrenton Branch of the Calvert School of Baltimore. It was renamed Highland School in 1957 and moved to its current location. As stated in its mission, "Highland School prepares students to thrive, lead and serve in a diverse and dynamic world, developing essential skills and character by challenging them with a demanding academic and co-curricular program." The Plains is a town in Fauquier County, Virginia, United States. The population was 245 as of the 2020 census, up from 217 at the 2010 census.
