Wake Owl
Wake Owl is an indie pop band based in Vancouver, British Columbia and Portland, Oregon. The band's core members are singer and songwriter Colyn Cameron and multi-instrumentalist Aiden Brant-Briscall. History Following several years of international travel during which Cameron wrote songs primarily as a hobby, the band released its debut EP as a free internet download in 2012, and was rereleased January 29, 2013 on Vagrant Records. The band toured both Canada and the United States to support the EP. The EP garnered airplay on CBC Radio 2, with the title track reaching #1 on the ''Radio 2 Top 20'' in June 2013, and the track "Gold" was featured in an episode of ''Grey's Anatomy''. The band garnered a Juno Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2014.

Juno Award For Breakthrough Artist Of The Year
The Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year is an annual award given by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to the best new musician in Canada. The award has been given since 1974, when it was originally divided into separate awards for men and women under the names Most Promising Female Vocalist of the Year and Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year. These two awards were merged in 1994 into Best New Solo Artist, which was then changed to New Artist of the Year in 2003, and finally changed to its current title beginning in 2013. ''BeatRoute'' is a monthly print and online magazine published in Western Canada. The magazine is distributed across Alberta and British Columbia, with offices in Calgary and Vancouver. BeatRoute is a primarily music-oriented publication, with a circulation of more than 10,000. History BeatRoute was founded by Brad Simm and Glenn Alderson in 2004. Simm also works in the journalism program at Mount Royal University.
