Brian Wake (born 13 August 1982) is an English former footballer who played as a striker. He is currently works as a youth coach at Viborg. Playing career Wake's notable contributions in football have been a hat-trick at Shrewsbury to keep Carlisle in The Football League, winning a first division title medal with Hamilton Accies (although he had left for Morton in January 2008) and four goals in Morton's last three games of season 2007–08 (including a double at Firhill against Partick Thistle) to keep them in Division One. Marvalee Hendricks Wake (born July 31, 1939) is an American zoologist and professor at the University of California, Berkeley, known for her research in the biology of caecilians (limbless amphibians) and vertebrate development and evolution. A 1988 Guggenheim Fellow, she has served as president of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, International Union of Biological Sciences, and the International Society of Vertebrate Morphology. Born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, Wake was a right-handed batsman, who scored only thirteen first-class runs at 4.33, with a best score of 11. His right arm slow bowling was not called upon, although he did take two catches. The son of a solicitor, he played cricket as an amateur, and qualified as a solicitor himself. Sir William Wake, 8th Baronet (1742–1785), was a British politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1774 to 1784. Wake was the son of Sir William Wake, 7th Baronet of Courteenhall and his wife Sarah Walker of Weston, Yorkshire. He was educated at Eton College in 1755 and admitted at Trinity College, Cambridge on 2 February 1760. On 6 March 1764, he was admitted at Lincoln's Inn. He married Mary Fenton, daughter of Richard Fenton of Banktop, Yorkshire on 6 June 1765 and succeeded his father in the baronetcy on 25 September 1765. He was High Sheriff of Northamptonshire in 1771–2. In the 1774 general election Wake was elected as Member of Parliament for Bedford. He is reported as making only three speeches in that Parliament. He was re-elected for Bedford in 1780. He was described as "a very independent Member" with "a small mixture of tenaciousness, or perhaps obstinacy, in his disposition". William Wake
William Wake (26 January 165724 January 1737) was a priest in the Church of England and Archbishop of Canterbury from 1716 until his death in 1737. Life Wake was born in Blandford Forum, Dorset, and educated at Christ Church, Oxford. He took orders, and in 1682 went to Paris as chaplain to the ambassador Richard Graham, Viscount Preston (1648–1695). Here he became acquainted with many of the savants of the capital, and was much interested in French clerical affairs. He also collated some Paris manuscripts of the ''Greek New Testament'' for John Fell, bishop of Oxford. He returned to England in 1685; in 1688 he became preacher at Gray's Inn, and in 1689 he received a canonry of Christ Church, Oxford. In 1693 he was appointed rector of St James's Church, Piccadilly. Thomas Wake, 2nd Baron Wake of Liddell (129731 May 1349), English baron, belonged to a Lincolnshire family which had lands also in Cumberland, being the son of John Wake, 1st Baron Wake of Liddell (died 1300), who was summoned to parliament as a baron in 1295, and the grandson of Baldwin Wake (died 1282), both warriors of repute. The Scripps National Spelling Bee (formerly the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee and commonly called the National Spelling Bee) is an annual spelling bee held in the United States. The competition began in 1925, and was initially organized by ''The Courier-Journal'' of Louisville, Kentucky, until the Scripps Howard Broadcasting Company (now the E. W. Scripps Company) assumed sponsorship in 1941. Every speller in the competition has previously participated in a local spelling bee, usually organized by a local newspaper. Nancy Grace Augusta Wake, (30 August 1912 – 7 August 2011), also known as Madame Fiocca and Nancy Fiocca, was a nurse and journalist who joined the French Resistance and later the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II, and briefly pursued a post-war career as an intelligence officer in the Air Ministry.
