Waitakere United
Waitakere United was a football club based in Waitakere City, New Zealand. They were one of the franchises in the ISPS Handa Premiership. They played their home games at Fred Taylor Park in Kumeu and The Trusts Arena. History Waitakere United was formed as a special franchise club in 2004 to play in the New Zealand Football Championship (NZFC), New Zealand's top domestic football competition. The team represented 12 member clubs from Mt Albert to the Kaipara. In the inaugural season (2004–05) of the NZFC, Waitakere United finished runners-up to the champions Auckland City but they followed up with a very disappointing 6th place in the next season. In the following season, however, Waitakere finished as NZFC premiers but lost in the grand final once again to Auckland City FC 3–2. The Trusts Arena
The Trusts Arena is an indoor arena located in Henderson, New Zealand, Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand. It is a multi-purpose stadium that primarily holds sports events and music concerts. The Arena was opened by then Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark on 11 September 2004. It holds 4,901 people. Adjacent to the stadium is an outdoor Sport of athletics, athletics facility known as the Douglas Track and Field, which has a capacity of 3,000 people. The sporting complex has been the home of many sporting teams, with the current arena tenant being the Northern Mystics of the ANZ Championship. New Zealand National League
The New Zealand Men's National League is a men's football league at the top of the New Zealand football league system. Founded in 2021, the New Zealand National League is the successor to the New Zealand Football Championship. The league will be contested by ten teams, with teams qualifying from their regional leagues. Four teams qualify from the Northern League, three qualify from the Central League, two qualify from the newly formed Southern League and the Wellington Phoenix Reserves are automatically given a spot each year. The regional leagues runs from March through to September, with each league having a varying number of games. The Championship phase runs after the completion of the regional phase with each team playing each other once, followed by a grand final. Auckland Derby
The Auckland derby was a local football rivalry between two New Zealand Football Championship clubs based in the Auckland Region. Auckland City FC are located within Auckland City itself while Waitakere United are from neighbouring city Waitakere City. Since November 2010, the two cities are now part of the new super city; Auckland Council and the rivalry can now be classed as a city derby. Since the creation of the New Zealand Football Championship in 2004 the two clubs have dominated the league becoming the only sides to win the Premiership and the end of season playoffs. Whenuapai is a suburb and aerodrome located in northwestern Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located on the northwestern shore of the Waitematā Harbour, 15 kilometres to the northwest of Auckland's city centre. 2007–08 OFC Champions League
The 2007–08 OFC Champions League was the 7th edition of the Oceanian Club Championship, Oceania's premier club football tournament organized by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), and the 2nd season under the current OFC Champions League name.
