Waitakere Cricket Club
Waitakere Cricket Club is a cricket club based in West Auckland. Based at Te Atatū Park on the Te Atatū Peninsula, the club has won the Auckland club championship three times. History During the 1971–72 season the Te Atatu Cricket Club and Henderson Cricket Club amalgamated to form the Western Districts Cricket Club. The club has since been renamed three times, first to become the Waitemata Cricket Club, then the Waitemata Cricket Association Inc and finally to its present name of the Waitakere Cricket Club. Originally based at McLeod Road Reserve, in 1989 the team moved to Te Atatū Park. The team also has training facilities at the Trusts Stadium. The club has won the Auckland Cricket club championship three times, in 1989/90, 1994/5 and 1996/7. Zee Marathi is an Indian general entertainment channel which carries programming in Marathi language, Marathi. It is owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises. The channel was launched on 15 August 1999 and was known as Alpha TV Marathi until 28 March 2005, then it was renamed as Zee Marathi. It is the first Marathi language, Marathi GEC channel. A HD version of this channel, Zee Marathi HD, was launched on 20 November 2016. The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Named the Black Caps, they played their first Test cricket, Test in 1930 against England cricket team, England in Christchurch, becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. Anaru Kyle Kitchen (born 21 February 1984) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for the Otago cricket team. He is a right-handed middle-order batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Roneel Magan Hira (born 23 January 1987) is a New Zealand Twenty20 International cricketer who is a left-arm off spinner. His relaxed attitude to cricket and his bowling style have been compared to Phil Tufnell. He was born in Auckland. Auckland Aces
The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval. The limited overs side, known as the Auckland Aces, have a predominantly light blue kit with a navy and white trim. Their One Day Championship shirt sponsors are Ford whilst their major T20 sponsor is Mondiale. Trevor Franklin (cricketer)
Trevor John Franklin (born 18 March 1962) is a New Zealand former cricketer who played 21 Tests and three One Day Internationals for New Zealand. He played first-class cricket for Auckland from 1980 to 1993. Franklin was known for his stoicism as a right-handed opening batsman. Craig Spearman
Craig Murray Spearman (born 4 July 1972) is an English-New Zealand former cricketer who played 19 Tests and 51 One Day Internationals for New Zealand from 1995–2001. He took his education from Kelston Boys High School, Auckland and then to Massey University, New Zealand. Domestic career However, after meeting with fellow New Zealander, John Bracewell, he was asked to play for the team he was coaching, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. Spearman immediately became a favourite in Bristol, when he hit a century in his first match. In 2004 he hit 341 against Middlesex at Gloucester. Adam Craig Parore (born 23 January 1971) is a former wicket-keeper and batsman for the New Zealand cricket team. He played 78 Test cricket matches for New Zealand and 179 One Day International cricket matches. Parore has been the managing director of financial services firm Adam Parore Mortgages. Sir Murray Halberg
Sir Murray Gordon Halberg (7 July 1933 – 30 November 2022) was a New Zealand middle-distance runner who won the gold medal in the 5000 metres event at the 1960 Olympics. He also won gold medals in the 3 miles events at the 1958 and 1962 Commonwealth Games. He worked for the welfare of children with disabilities since he founded the Halberg Trust in 1963. West Auckland, New Zealand
West Auckland ( mi, Te Uru o Tāmaki Makaurau) is one of the major geographical areas of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand. Much of the area is dominated by the Waitākere Ranges, the eastern slopes of the Miocene era Waitākere volcano which was upraised from the ocean floor, and one of the largest regional parks in New Zealand. Halberg Awards
The Halberg Awards are a set of awards, given annually since 1949, recognising New Zealand's top sporting achievements. They are named for New Zealand former middle-distance runner and Olympic gold medalist Sir Murray Halberg. The initial award was handed out in 1949, and continued until 1960 under the auspices of the ''NZ Sportsman'' magazine. Since 1963, the awards have been organised by the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation, and the number of award categories has grown to eight.
