A monorail (from "mono", meaning "one", and "rail") is a railway in which the track consists of a single rail or a beam. Colloquially, the term "monorail" is often used to describe any form of elevated rail or people mover. Line 1 of the Mumbai Monorail is, as of 2018, the only current line in the monorail system for the city of Mumbai, India. It is also referred to as ''Jacob Circle-Wadala-Chembur line/corridor''. Built at a cost of approximately , the line is fully elevated, and connects Jacob Circle in South Mumbai with Chembur in eastern Mumbai.
