WYYW-CD, virtual and UHF digital channel 15, is a low-powered, Class A Telemundo- affiliated television station licensed to Evansville, Indiana, United States. Until 2009, WYYW-CD was co-owned by the Evansville Low Power Partnership and Comcorp, which owns Evansville CBS affiliate WEVV-TV. History On May 19, 2009, the then-WTSN-LP ceased broadcasting My44 and MyNetworkTV programming, and on June 1, the station flash cut to digital as WTSN-LD and changed its affiliation to America One. WEVV now carries MyNetworkTV as a secondary affiliate on its digital signal, on digital channel 44.2. In August 2010, both WTSN-LD and WYYW-LP were granted Class A status by the Federal Communications Commission. The station is owned by Three Sisters Broadcasting, as part of a duopoly with WYYW-CD (channel 15). WAZE-TV originally occupied its digital signal on UHF channel 20 just before that station shut down permanently in 2011. History The low-powered channel 20 was founded on September 22, 2011, as WYYW-CD, and became a MeTV affiliate two months later. This happened three weeks after CBS affiliate WEVV-TV began broadcasting Fox network programming on its second digital subchannel. The Family Channel is an American general entertainment television network owned by Get After It Media (formerly Luken Communications and Reach High Media Group), and based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. History In September 2008, ValCom announced that they would purchase the assets of Faith TV, relaunching it as a more broadly-distributed family television network. On December 15, 2008, ValCom deal to purchase Faith TV closed and they relaunched Faith TV as My Family TV. Communications Corporation of America (also known as ComCorp) was a broadcasting company in the United States that owned television stations in smaller markets. The company was headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana. It owned and/or operated 20 stations (counting satellite stations and those controlled via local marketing agreements). The company began in 1989 and the next year, it purchased three television stations from Southwest MultiMedia Company of Houston: KVEO in Brownsville, KPEJ in Odessa, and KWKT in Waco, and they purchased the license for WPFT in Baton Rouge, LA, which they signed on in 1991 as WGMB. At one point, ComCorp was also an owner of radio stations in its home market of Lafayette; it subsequently sold those stations to Regent Communications. Radio sister stations will often have different formats, and sometimes one station is on the AM band while another is on the FM band.
