WXXJ (106.5 MHz) is an FM radio station owned by Cox Media Group. It is licensed to Jacksonville, Florida and serves the Jacksonville metropolitan area with an alternative rock format. Joseph Pinto, better known as Joey Reynolds, is a long-time radio show host and disc jockey. Scott Ferrall (born July 29, 1965) is an American sports talk radio personality who hosts two shows on the SportsGrid video streaming service, Scott Ferrall: Coast to Coast and In-Game Live. Scott's father Thomas C. Ferrall was a former radio personality at KMOX in St. Louis, Missouri and was the youngest ever television anchorman at ABC affiliate KMBC in Kansas City, Missouri. The ''Don and Mike Show'' was an American nationally syndicated radio talk show hosted by the shock jocks Don Geronimo and Mike O'Meara, which aired from December 1985 through April 11, 2008. The show debuted on WAVA-FM in 1985 as ''The Morning Zoo with Don and Mike''. The official name of the show became'' The Don and Mike Show'' when the duo moved to WJFK-FM in 1991. WOKV (690 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to the Jacksonville, Florida, United States. WOKV is owned by Cox Media Group and broadcasts a sports format from studios in Jacksonville's Southside district and transmitters in Orange Park and Baldwin. 690 AM is a Canadian and Mexican clear-channel frequency, on which CKGM in Montreal, Quebec and XEN-AM in Mexico City, Mexico share Class A status. History The Big Ape AM 690 first signed on the air on October 23, 1958, as WAPE. It was a daytimer, owned by Brennan Broadcasting. WAPE originally broadcast with 25,000 watts and was required to be off the air at night. In 1963, the station got a boost to 50,000 watts by day and it also got nighttime authorization, running 10,000 watts after sunset; a previous attempt to add 25,000 watts of night power in 1960 was dismissed as contravening the North American Regional Broadcasting Agreement.
