WXRT-FM
WXRT (93.1 FM), also known as XRT and 93-XRT is an adult album alternative (AAA) radio station in Chicago, Illinois. For many years, their slogan has been "Chicago's Finest Rock". "Chicago's Home For Music Lovers" has been used as its slogan since fall 2017. The station broadcasts from a transmitter atop John Hancock Center and its studios are located at Two Prudential Plaza near Chicago's Millennium Park. WXRT broadcasts in the HD Radio format. Programming WXRT plays a very broad range of music in a format known as AAA/Triple-A (Adult Album Alternative). Terri Hemmert
Terri Hemmert (born April 28, 1948) is an American radio personality, musicologist, and instructor at Columbia College Chicago. She is a long-term presence at WXRT-FM in Chicago, Illinois where she became the first female drive time host for a rock music station in the Chicago radio market. She is known as an expert on The Beatles and hosts the weekly ''Breakfast with the Beatles'' program and has been featured speaker at many Beatles conventions worldwide. Hemmert grew up in Piqua, Ohio. As a youth she saw The Beatles on ''The Ed Sullivan Show'' and was inspired to set her sights on a career as a disc jockey as a potential way to meet her idols. She maintained her interest in pop and rhythm and blues music through her teens and enrolled at Elmhurst College where she wrote for campus publications and worked at the college radio station WRSE; she received a bachelor's degree in Speech in 1970. ''Breakfast with the Beatles'' is a popular programming segment format on FM radio in cities in the United States. The segment format typically features one or more hours of programing consisting exclusively of music by or related to The Beatles. Several nationally syndicated variations exist as well as many locally produced versions. Saturday Morning Flashback
''Saturday Morning Flashback'' is a program airing from 9 AM until 12 noon Saturday mornings on Chicago radio station WXRT. It has aired continually in this time slot since 1985. The show, once a four hour program hosted by former WXRT DJ Wendy Rice was reduced to three hours after her departure. The show is now hosted by Frank E. Lee, Johnny Mars, and Annalisa Parziale on a rotating basis. Parziale joined the rotation in August 2022, replacing host Richard Milne several months after his resignation from the station. Parziale’s first show covered 1973, airing August 6, 2022. The program features contributions from several other WXRT DJs including Lin Brehmer and Marty Lennartz, who provides the voice for Chicago's hometown movie critic "the regular guy". Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture.
