WXID-LP, UHF analog channel 49, was a low-powered JCTV- affiliated television station licensed to Marietta, Georgia, United States. The station's transmitter was located atop Sweat Mountain, north-northwest of Atlanta. History Since being permitted in 1988, it was W55BM until March 2008, becoming W49DE after it was forced to change TV channels due to the DTV transition in the United States (which resulted in channel 55 being auctioned to MediaFLO). The station was previously owned by the Trinity Broadcasting Network, which sold it in 2010 to Word of God Fellowship, which changed the station to its current broadcast callsign in mid October 2010. Originally airing The Box, it later became a translator station for TBN-owned WHSG-TV. The station later affiliated with the TBN-owned JCTV network, making it one of the few TBN-owned analog stations to carry programming other than TBN. WHSG-TV (channel 63) is a religious television station licensed to Monroe, Georgia, United States, serving the Atlanta area as an owned-and-operated station of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). The station's studios are located on Agape Way in Decatur, and its transmitter is located in Atlanta's Cabbagetown section. Because it airs no local content (except for local insertion of the required station identification), it is not carried as a local channel on DirecTV; the network's national feed is already available, but TBN's subchannel sister networks are not available. Sweat Mountain is a mountain in far northeastern Cobb County, Georgia, in the suburbs north of Atlanta. The exact GNIS location of its summit is , and it has an official (USGS) elevation of above mean sea level. It is the second-highest point in the county behind Kennesaw Mountain, and second in the core metro Atlanta area, behind Kennesaw Mountain, which is also in Cobb County. It is fifth if the exurban counties further north are considered. Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter). DTV Transition In The United States
The digital transition in the United States was the switchover from analog to exclusively digital broadcasting of terrestrial television programming. According to David Rehr, then president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, this transition represented "the most significant advancement of television technology since color TV was introduced." For full-power TV stations, the transition went into effect on June 12, 2009, with stations ending regular programming on their analog signals no later than 11:59 p.m. local time that day. Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter.
