WTXR is a radio station on 89.7 FM in Toccoa Falls, Georgia, United States. The station is owned by Radio Training Network of Greenville, South Carolina, and is part of its His Radio Praise network carrying a contemporary worship music format. Prior to being owned by RTN, WTXR was the student-run campus radio station of Toccoa Falls College. History Toccoa Falls College filed for a construction permit for a new FM radio station on July 13, 1995; the Federal Communications Commission approved the application on April 9, 1996. WTXR was licensed, initially as WDPA, on September 16, 1997, before changing call letters in November. Toccoa Falls College is a private Christian college in Toccoa Falls, Georgia. The campus occupies , bordering the Chattahoochee National Forest and is home to Toccoa Falls, a high waterfall. It is affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The college is also a member of Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. History In 1907, Toccoa Falls College was founded by Richard A. Forrest in the community of Golden Valley, North Carolina, as the Golden Valley Institute. Radio Training Network, Inc. is an American non-profit broadcasting organization that operates several networks of Christian radio- formatted stations, mostly in the Southeast.
