WTOX
WTOX is a Spanish music formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Glen Allen, Virginia, serving Metro Richmond. WTOX is owned and operated by Michael Mazursky, through licensee Mobile Radio Partners, Inc. Frequency history 1480 in the Richmond was originally used by WLEE, which had moved there from 1450 kHz in 1950 as part of a power increase. WLEE, which grew to be the main Top 40 radio station in Richmond in the 1960s and early 1970s, shared its time with an even older station, WBBL, which broadcast church services on Sunday. WLEE was shuttered December 31, 1988, for economic reasons, taking WBBL with it. Sale On July 14, 2015, Davidson Media Group announced it would be selling WTOX and sister station WVNZ to TBLC Virginia Holdings, LLC. for $400,000. The sale was consummated on November 5, 2015. The Davidson Media Group (DMG) is a Charlotte-based broadcaster specializing in multi-cultural, community focused formats. The company runs stations in a number of markets in 10 states and also specializes in selling large blocks of time on some of its stations to brokers who broadcast Spanish and/or urban contemporary gospel programs. WLEE (1480 AM) was a radio station in Richmond, Virginia, United States. Last owned by Gilcom Corporation of Virginia, the station broadcast an adult standards format before closing. It broadcast from October 1, 1945, to December 31, 1988. The frequency was shared with WBBL, which primarily served to broadcast the services of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church; for its entire history, WBBL programs were broadcast on WLEE's transmitter. Established by Thomas Garland Tinsley, the station emerged as one of Richmond's most popular radio stations and as its leading Top 40 station from the 1960s through the mid-1970s. However, as music listening shifted to the FM band, its audience fell, and by the time it was closed, it had not made money in a decade. WBBL (Virginia)
WBBL was a radio station in Richmond, Virginia, United States, which broadcast from 1924 until 1989. It was Richmond's first radio station, owned for its entire existence by the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. The station was on the air as a part-time operation throughout its entire existence, broadcasting Grace Covenant's Sunday church services as well as other programming on Sunday night. From 1945 to 1989, it broadcast for a total of two hours and 15 minutes a week. Beginning in 1945, WBBL shared time with WLEE, which began operating on 1450 kHz that year and moved to 1480 kHz in 1950. WBBL's programming was broadcast over WLEE's transmitter. WLEE was shut down for economic reasons at the end of 1988, taking WBBL off the air with it after two more church service broadcasts in January 1989. Richmond Kickers is an American professional soccer club based in Richmond, Virginia. The Kickers compete as a member of USL League One (USL-1). The club was established in 1993, and began play that same year as a United States Interregional Soccer League (now USL League Two) expansion team, which at the time, was the fourth tier of soccer in the United States. The club's majority owner is 22 Holdings, LLC, and its minority owners are Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club and the Ukrop family, a prominent family from the Greater Richmond Region who founded the Ukrop's grocery chain. Sandston is a census-designated place (CDP) in Henrico County, Virginia, Henrico County, Virginia, United States, just outside the state capital of Richmond, Virginia, Richmond.
