WTIV (1230 AM) is an American radio station, licensed to the community of Titusville, Pennsylvania. WTIV operates at a full-time power of 1,000 watts. Though licensed to Titusville, programming, sales and administrative functions originate out of Meadville, Pennsylvania. History WTIV was the first of three radio stations originally put on the air by Robert H. Sauber. Making its debut on November 27, 1955, WTIV offered a full-service format composed mainly of news, adult contemporary music and national and world news from the Mutual Broadcasting System, with little changes in program offerings over the years under his ownership. Titusville, Pennsylvania
Titusville is a city in the far eastern corner of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,601 at the 2010 census and an estimated 5,158 in 2019. Titusville is known as the birthplace of the American oil industry and for a number of years was the leading oil-producing region in the world. Titusville was notable for its lumber industry, including 17 sawmills, as well as its plastic and toolmaking industries. History The area was first settled in 1796 by Jonathan Titus. Within 14 years, others bought and improved land lying near his, along the banks of what is now Oil Creek. State College is a home rule municipality in Centre County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. WOYL
WOYL was an American radio station, licensed to the community of Oil City, Pennsylvania. WOYL operated at the assigned frequency of 1340 kHz and a full-time output power of a thousand watts. WOYL signed off December 27, 2009, due to major technical difficulties; though the station acquired a special temporary extension that allowed the station to remain silent until June 2010, it was ultimately decided to return the WOYL license to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Though licensed to Oil City, some programming, sales and administrative functions did not originate out of Oil City, but rather Meadville, Pennsylvania, the headquarters of Forever Broadcasting's other northwest Pennsylvania broadcast properties. AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions.
